Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Interesting, Emma, I had thought there were other posts on here before and I just got an email on your last comment even though my post is now gone as well.
I guess if she doesn't like what we have to say, maybe she should delete the Blog rather than our comments.
I'd still like to know about that screwy timeline up there.
My son is only 18, our baby, just graduated from high school and 3 weeks later was gone. We're moms and it's going to rip our hearts out but we have to get things in perspective. Others go off to college and 4 years later, (or longer) graduate with no job experience, possibly a degree they'll never use, and thousands of dollars of debt. Your son will have excellent training and education, job experience, and money in the bank! And if he chooses, a wonderful career that will take care of him and his dependents with insurance and retirement benefits. Eventhough it is tough to let go of our "babies", we really do want them to grow up and take all the love and training we have poured into them and become happy, successful adults. He has made a wise and responsible choice for his life. Thank goodness this is the day of cell phones, video calling, computers, etc. Only a few years ago, we wouldn't have any of those ways of keeping up with our young man. You have so much to be thankful for and proud about. Let him know every chance you get, how happy and proud you are. He needs to hear and believe that.
