For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Without my SON!!!!!
Woke up this morning with my son on my mind so heavy wondering what he is doing and did he eat breakfast. He is really not a breakfast eater he like to eat at noon time. I found myself crying again am trying to think postive, am trying to be happy for him but I can't stop wondering if he is okay or not. Am writing letters ready to put them in the mail, wondering when am get the address to send them to him. This is nerve wrecking

THE FORM LETTER:
You will received this form letter (from RTC) soon after your sailor recruit starts boot camp. This form letter contains four important items.
Your recruit's SHIP # and DIVISION # (Ships which are their barracks are also named, like USS Triton, USS Reuben James. See diagram above. Don't confuse these with the real life actual Navy vessels in service).
Just below that is his address. USE THIS address - not the one that you might have gotten from the recruit previously.
Further down, you'll find his graduation date. This is his PIR (Pass In Review) date.
Next, you'll see the password you will need to download the parking pass for PIR
Finally, you'll see the four names your recruit has listed officially as his guests. (4 per recruit - children 12 and under do not count - see the Family Guide on RTC site)
NOTE: IMPORTANT UPDATE (OCTOBER 2012) ON EXTRA GUESTS. RTC'S POLICY HAS CHANGED. READ THE FOLLOWING DISCUSSION:

When my son first left I was worried about the same things. He never went to bed until 5 or 6 am and didn't get up until 5 or 6 at night. I was so worried about how he would adjust. But after the first letter I knew he was going to be ok. The first few letters you get may be short and talk about how he doesn't like it, or filled with a lot of cussing as mine was lol. But you will see a change in him with each letter. Your son left your home a boy, but when you see him again he will be a man! We typically got letters from our son on Wed. We got the 1st one on the 2nd Wed. that he was gone. Keep writing letters and just mail them all in different envelopes when you get the addy. He will appreciate it. Also send him pics of home and family, it will help as well.

Once you know his PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created.

Shawanda11....just wait until graduation day! It seems like it is slow going but it will be here before you know it. How proud you will be of him! And that feeling does not stop at graduation. My son has been in for almost a year now and I am very proud of him. This time of year is difficult for them to be away from us. Stay plugged iinto this site. It helps alot. Stay strong!

Shawanda11, what you are feeling is completely normal. It's an emotional roller coaster and if you feel like crying then cry. I never cried so much in my life. This site is the best thing ever and got me through each day....and I still log on every few days! I promise you what you are going through will be worth it the moment you put your arms around him. I send you a huge hug!
