Hello all,

Not sure if it's really a good idea or not?

I currently work for a company doing Quality Assurance. Yes, Quality Assurance. So you know when you call your local cable company and they say - "This call may be monitored for Quality Assurance purposes."? Well I'm actually the person that listens and monitors. So those people really exist. LOL

Anywho... My company allows me to work for home to do this. Currently I work in the building and work full time. I was planning on leaving the company in January when my family and I moved but TODAY they have just offered me a full time position as a remote (work from home) employee once I move to VA.

So here's the question.... Is it a good idea for me to work full time? Yes, I'll be home full time... and work full time. But will I be able to still provide that support my husband and daughter need from me? I've done so well juggling things now. But at the same time VA is going to completely different. Not sure what to do?

Any advice? Please help! I haven't even told my husband yet... just a little worried he won't be too thrilled about it.

I had to laugh reading the beginning because I work for a company that makes the software to do all the call monitoring! But the reason I am commenting is that I work from home and have done for about 15 years now. My kids are grown now, son entering the Navy after college and daughter a Jr in college, but I couldn't have kept working full time without working from home. The most important thing is how flexible is your schedule? With the work I do, I have deadlines to meet so it doesn't matter if I need to go out for a few hours here or there and make up time later (or earlier.) I was always able to get the kids where they needed to go and see all of their activities. I also liked that I was home during those dangerous years when all of the bad influences start to make sure I knew who they were with and what they were up to. I fit in cooking, cleaning and laundry throughout the day. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps.

Hello ... I'm a VSOT QA Manager (virtual site operation team) and we have the flexibility to work from home too.  I think the biggest benefit is the flexibility to manage/balance your work/family life.  I wish I had this opportunity when my kids were young.

Hello My2Kidz,

Everyone I tell that I monitor calls I get responses like "People actually listen to those calls." so it's become a habit to explain. LOL

My job is very flexible. I just hope when I move it's the same. Let's hope I can juggle everything and please everyone. Trying to stay positive. But I'm glad to hear there are other people doing it. =D

Hello Red,

Its a great opportunity  and I would hate to lose it. I'm going to try my best and go from there. One day at a time right! =D
