Hi, I don't want to ask a question that has already been asked but I've gone through a few months back on your comments and didn't see anything and was very curious as i know some other mothers are. Does our mail go to our recruits when it arrives in the beginning of BC or is it held till week 3 before it gets to our recruits. Thank you for you time.
RTC- CMC, My husband is on ship4, div 811. with a pir of 5/14/10.. Do you know when their battlestations date will be? And also, I've heard that sometimesn they are grad and go, and can move "across" the street that Friday of PIR, do you know if this division will be moving then, or will they wait until the Wed, the 19th ? Any help you could give me will be greatly appreciated
good evening just wondering after boot camp why are some sailors held in chicago before being sent to florida for there training? and they are not sure when they will be going...is there a reason of why some are held back after grad and some leave right away?
All,
Thanks for the kind words and patience. A couple of moms have "coached" me on N4M etiquette and procedures, and while I am trying to comply, as noted below, I do get a bit busy every now and then. I am trainable, just a bit slow.
Seems as though the Grad n' Go (GNG) topic has ignited some questions/discussion. Vice using this medium as the primary information source for scheduling questions, I'd like to use it as an alternate for same. That is, it is best if the families contact the RTC PAO directly for graduation information (such as which divisions are GNG). They will have the same information I provide, but it will be at thier fingertips, while I have to "drill down" a bit to harvest the information. This will make it far more expedient for you to get the info, as I will not be able to reply to the inquiries immediately. If you experience problems with this, please let me know.
Although I am personally replying to your posts, both my PAO and my personal assistant monitor the posts to ensure I don't miss anything (and to give me a "poke" when I'm slow to reply).
Thanks to all of you for supporting your recruits and Sailors. It really makes a big difference in mission accomplishment.

Good Morning RTC Command Master Chief, I would like to know which divisions whose PIR date is 4/2/10 are Grad N Go. We're trying to make plans for that weekend and this info would be very helpful. Thank you and enjoy your Sunday!
wow you poor thing! flooded by desperate loved ones of the recruits you oversee, lol. You should have your PAO handle this for you ;0) lol, jk. thank you so much for all you do! much appreciated!
RTC Command Master Chief - let me say it so you will hear it again. "You Rock" Just knowing that you are taking the time to answer these questions is awesome. In the letters to my SR I have indicated that he needs to remember that the Navy has been at this a long time and while it may not always seem like it to him at the moment, they have a reason for everything they do. We as moms have to struggle to know that too. I always told him Mom knows best, but I would now tell him the Navy knows best. He and I both knew it wasn't a trip to Disneyland and while it is hard, and sometimes harder than we imagined, we will survive as so many before us have. Thanks to you and belssings to you,all of the staff, and especially to your families who sacrifice so all of you can take care of ours.
Overnight liberty is granted only in cases of extreme need.
An example might be the death of an immediate relative (mother, father, sibling, spouse, dependant child), followed by an American Red Cross message. This is usually covered by granting the member leave due to time and travel requirements.
Melissa,
All Divisions are granted liberty immediately following graduation. Unless the Sailor has a watch to stand, they will all have liberty, expiring on board at 2000 that evening. I'd plan to be back aboard no later than 1930 to allow time to drive through our gate (security) and for the Sailor to walk back to the ship by 2000.
Hello RTC CMC!
My brother's PIR is March 26th he is in div 136. He says that he is a "grad n go". I know that you have posted previously they may get liberty all day after graduation. Does this go for all divisons or will he only get to spend an hour or so with us? Or will he leave on Saturday for A school in Pensacola? Thanks!!
Any mail not deliverable due to transfer will be forwarded to the next duty station. This will occur throughout the Sailor's career.
If you do not want the mail forwarded, I recommend you cease sending mail about a week to ten days (depending upon how far from Great Lakes you reside) prior to the Sailor's transfer date.
Lol...I consider it an honor sir! =)
One more question if you don't mind.... When do recruits stop receiving mail from loved ones? I write to my recruit each day, but I don't know when to stop sending them....! =)
Thanks!
Nancy,
Training days are calculated by week and day. In order to attend PIR the Recruits have to successfully complete BST, therefore; BST will always occur before PIR.
Christy,
Leave is normally not granted before reporting to their first duty station, as they have not accrued enough days on the books. The date that the school actually starts will vary depending upon the school.
Thank you so much for all the insight you have provided regarding PIR and liberty weekend. It has been really helpful and helps put our minds at ease. =)
~Quick question~ Once a recruit has graduated and received their PCS, does that mean that they have to report to that location right away? For example, a recruit is graduating BC and being sent to Goose Creek, SC for Nuke School. Do they start school the following Monday after liberty weekend or do they get more time off with family?
Again, thank you so much for your time spent answering questions for those who have loved ones in BC. It really helps and means a lot to each one of us. =)
CMC,
Quick question that I know you can help clarify..how are training days calculated? Are weeks calculated as 1:1 through 1:7 and so on? OUr group is trying to decipher our sons' Navy speak..LOL. If we caculate using whatthey've told us - their BST would be after PIR...we are confused...can you help? Thx Nance
