My son went to Central Dauphin.  He went to Pre-Buds right from Basic.  He just got reclassified the end of the week and is heading to Pensacola, FL for Air Traffic Controller training in November.

Hi Kathy, my son started in the Navy under a SEAL contract but after making it through Pre-BUDS and starting BO, he decided that being a SEAL was not a good fit for him.  He is currently waiting for reclassification.  He very much wants to stay in the NAVY, so we are just waiting to see where he ends up.  What is OS?

Hi Kathy! My husband told me that they designed their flag and on one side its the RDC's names and their division number and then on the other side is a goat hugging the world...and the goat is the Navy's mascot. So im assuming that the goat hugging the world would be on their division tshirts but im not sure. I am going to order one.

I did make reservations earlier today... at the Ramada Waukegan.  My thinking was, that maybe he will want to get away from the base... but reality is that it is only 4 miles.

My SR (Sean) is also staying at GL for A school... but I don't know what his job is yet. He's in Ship 03 Div 236.

My daughter and my ex are supposed to travel with me.  I hope they don't let me and Sean down.  I'll find out about my daughter tomorrow... but won't know until last minute about my ex.

How old is your son?  Sean just turned 23 in May.

It would be great if we could connect up there...

Hi Kathy... Sorry for not responding... I didn't even see the friend request, otherwise I would certainly have friended you.  Upon going there... I found a few others... I will respond to them all.

Wow, you were up in Plymouth this weekend... wish I had known!  I would have loved to talk to meet another Navy parent.  Do you get up this way often?

Tell me, what division is your son/daughter in?  Do you know the plan after BC?  Staying in GL for A school?

I'm checking out flights now online.  We may have to fly to IL on Wednesday so we will be able to go to the meet and greet.  The flight we were looking at from Charlotte, VA will get us there too late to make it to the meet and greet on Thursday.  Thanks for the information about Costco's.  We are members too, but I didn't even think about callinfg them.  Thanks again.

Kathy, to find the information for the meet and greet, scroll up  to the Navy for Mom's at the top of this page and then click on Events and then click on meet.  It is at the Ramada Waukegan at 200 N. Green Bay Rd. 847-244-2400 and it is from 6 to 8 PM.  The invitation for our PIR weekend is not posted yet, just up to July 21 and 22.

I know the meet and greet is at the Ramada Inn and I read somewhere that it is 7 to 8 PM.  I'm not sure where the Ramada Inn is though, but it should be near the training center. If I find the place where I saw the information on it, I will let you know. We don't have flight arrangements yet or a rental car.  We were going to drive to my son's in VA and then fly out of Charlottesville or Richmond to Midway or O'Hare, but maybe we will check out Milwaukee too.  Where did you find the car rental place?

My son in boot camp is 27 and the one getting married is 29.  We'll look for you at the Navy Lodge Thursday.  Were you planning to go to the Meet and Greet at the Ramada?  What time does your flight get in?

Our older son is getting married in VA July 30th, so we are planning to drive to VA and then take a flight from Charlottesville to Chicago Thursday hen fly back to VA after graduation for the wedding rehersal. We don't think our son in boot camp will be able to be in the  wedding.

Kathy,

I have a daughter Joscelyn (21) who lives right down the street but is trying to find herself and doesn't really have anything to do with us.  Cody will be 18 June 16th.  He is going for Corpsman.  This has all been very fast for us.  April 28th we paid to hold his seat at Penn State.  The following Monday he told us he has decided to join the Navy instead.  Took his Asvabs and now is ready to leave.  Apparently the kid who was supposed to leave got a DUI, so since Cody had the highest score in the nation he was next in line.  We also have a daughter Jenna (15) and last but not least our son Connor (9).  I work with a nurse who just had a son graduate boot camp.  This is her second child to join the Navy so she has been giving me tips.  I am just hoping to meet other moms going through the same thing.  Can't wait to get to know you and hear all the updates on Christian.  Talk to you soon.
