Hi Beverly,

how are you holding up?

did you receive the short phone call on Tuesday, we did not.

we think that his cell phone minutes had run out.

Erik did send a long text to his girlfriend from O'Hare airport to say that they had landed safely.

now the waiting is on, as they say no news is good news.

hang in there.

Good morning Beverly,

I just got in to work. I trust the link will get here when i need it, maybe after A school we can

have something like that in place.

It is of course a wise idea, people  have advised us also to put financial power of attorney in

place also a wise idea.

Erik's A school is in Meridian Miss., on the Saturday after PIR he will fly there.

So we have only the Friday to spend with him.

Talk to you soon,

Hi Beverly,

our sons name is Erik i think his last DEP meeting is today or maybe Thursday, i will get some more info then. thanks for telling me about the hotel near BWI. that helps me in making some more motherly plans, i think our son is sick of me bugging him. he'll have to put up with it for one more week LOL right. how old is your son? what is he going to do in the Navy? our son is 26 and will be a LS ( logistics specialist). it is becoming all to real Beverly.

Hi Beverly,

sorry i didn't get back to you before now, i only use the computer at the office, with the long weekend and all, but now i am back on line until Friday i guess.

thanks for giving me some more info, dinner on the the11th sounds like a good thing to do for our kids, i wasn't aware that was possible, our son does not tell me much.

that's why I'm on this blog all the time, mothers are way more informative than our kids.

hope to meet up with you and your son sometime during these crazy times.

hang in there, we are all so proud of our kids.

Hi Proudofmyson,

Thanks for your command, the 12th is so close now. Our son Erik tells me that he might have to stay in a hotel in Baltimore on Monday the 11th. That takes away another evening of spending time with him. I was going to make his favorite dinner that evening, I guess not. We are so not ready for him to go.

But we are so very proud, what are you planning for your son party wise, for his send off? we are having a large cookout on Saturday that his sister is organizing.

Hi Bev,

Gosh time is flying by!!!   Our son graduates high school in a couple days, and only a month or so before he leaves for boot!!!!

I dont know about Nex privilages.  JessicaB-Sailor Mom

is the one to ask about that, as she knows everything LOL    I do know that when we were in Chicago for our daughters graduation, she showed her military ID, and got us onto the base - we were able to access the Nex area, and we bot navy shirts and bags and goodies from the nex.  I dont know that we would have been able to access the nex without her ID, tho.  and we could not go past the church... we could only go to the fastfood court and nex and church.  every place else was off limits to us.

Cat was "grad and go".  So we only got a few hours with her off base.  We went to dinner, and had to take her back to base for your curfew.  We got to hang with her at the Nex for a bit, then she walked back to her compartment.  They bussed her to the airport about 4am the next day, and she called us from the USO at Ohare.  We met her at the airport and got a Family security pass to access the inner airport... we brought her, her cell phone, ate breakfast and shopped with her until her flight to Pensacola.

So grad and go's that leave chicago only have a few hours after graduation, and few hours the next day.

I dont know if Ray will be grad and go... but he will stay in Chicago, so right after graduation, he will go check into A-school... so we may get Saturday and possibly sunday with him.

Hello!!!
Congrats to you and your son!!! :-)  You must be extremely proud :-)

We went thru this with our daughter who left for GL on 02/01 and graduated 04/01/2011.  It was a horrible roller-coaster ride of emotions  LOL  I think it will be slightly easier with our son leaving 07/12... but then, I guess I will see come July 13th ha ha.

I did not find this website until after our daughter left, which was unfortunate... because it would have been sooo much easier on us if we knew ahead of time what she was going thru.  Apparently the recruits see videos of how it will be... they just dont show the families :(  so as moms... we worry...  but the video

http://www.navyformoms.com/video/navy-racks-boot-camp

is a god-send, and helps to dispell most of the worries I had :-)

Once they leave, they will get put into "Ships" and Divisions.  and we will join the Ship/Division discussion group and share news of our recruits progesses :-)

Look forward to meeting more of the July Deppers moms!!!
