Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

All Hands Magazine's full length documentary "Making a Sailor": This video follows four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video:"Importance of Navy OPSEC."
**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).
**UPDATE 8/25/2022 - MASK MANDATE IS LIFTED. Vaccinations still required.
**UPDATE 11/10/22 PIR - Vaccinations no longer required.

Since you have a Sailor, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to “Enlisted.”
You can make that change when you make the changes I previously sent in a PM.
If you get an error message, then look at the area/s in the error message and unclick all of the choices in the area/s and make choices closer to the question/s. Some choices may have changed since you joined.
Erin - I am trying to glean more details on Christmas leave from GC, those of us with sons, are only getting partial information and told to wait to book flights, but then others are being told to book. Is your daughter planning on borrowing leave time? My son should have almost enough leave time accrued for the entire stand down time - because he was told, they either take all of their leave time or none. This is confusing for some moms who thought they would get a week off / on as previously mentioned. Just trying to figure out what the details are on leave your daughter has been told.

My son is going to be 20 next month. We are from MA and he will be headed to Pensacola for school after boot camp. Hopefully our kids graduate at the same time! It would be great to meet some of the moms on here!

Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. Plan to leave late Saturday or on Sunday. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
I see you recently joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!! We are a close, friendly, supportive group of Moms and look forward to getting to know you and your sailor. I see you are new to N4Ms and your daughter is waiting to leave for boot camp? Please feel free to jump in and join our chats on our group page. You can ask any questions you may have, talk freely about your feelings, fears or concerns, or just chat about life. We are all in different phases of our daughters Naval careers and we are always there for each other!!! My enlisted daughter also joined during her last year of high school and left very soon after her graduation. If I can help relieve any of your fears, please feel free to ask!! What is your future Sailor's rating (job/occupational specialty) or field going to be? There are groups for most specialties and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.
Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in August. You will meet others with loved ones leaving 08/01/2017 or that week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together.
I also suggest you join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.

Your Sailor may have Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY; if so, join Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY at that time. Some stay in Charleston.

Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info.
