Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

All Hands Magazine's full length documentary "Making a Sailor": This video follows four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video:"Importance of Navy OPSEC."
**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).
**UPDATE 8/25/2022 - MASK MANDATE IS LIFTED. Vaccinations still required.
**UPDATE 11/10/22 PIR - Vaccinations no longer required.

Hi, Checking in on you.. How are you doing? I got another letter. My son is doing GREAT! hes loving the experience. Hell Week started this week and its just about done (Fri). Cant wait for xmas when they get to call. They start FireFighting next week on Mon, Gas Chamber ( I dont like that) on Tues. How is ur SR doing?
YES! I did... Got letter too.. how abt you? my son says he's enjoying BC aside from the yelling and the xtra IT due to some ppl "dont know how to keep quiet".. Also mentioned that they got their 2nd set of uniforms. That will be wearing their NSU not their dress blues for graduation. Hope that changes.. Also that he passed his tests so far, its prolly why they got to call. How is ur SR doing?
2nd letter received last Friday! No turkey day call but it's ok because I got a letter. :) I hope everyone had a good Holiday. I went to the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command and Naval Station Great Lakes facebook pages. The Naval Station page has pictures from Adopt-A-Sailor, Nov. 24, 2011. Take a look and see if you see your SR!
We weighed our options and my family and I will be driving from Texas to Great Lakes in January! See ya'll there! We leave Tuesday, Jan. 3rd. God Willing!
Letter received yesterday! It was so good to just see his hand writing on paper. He said it snowed sometime last week. He also mentioned that he's in better PT shape than he thought. His words were it's a piece of cake for me. That gave me relief! Anyway I hope everyone has heard from their SR. We all laughed with his letter.
HI. How are you holding up today? I'm still on the "trying" part.. I didnt recieve a letter 2day although my sons friend did! She said, he's doing well they are taking some tests this weekend, next week they start the FireFighting lessons. 2 things he dislikes is the 20 degree weather the other day and the yelling.. he also said he will be going to A school in Connecticut right after graduation so NO weekend w/ him. Just wanted to keep u updated! Hope u heard from ur son keep me posted w/ the details.. thank you!
Hi... I'm still in those stages of having my crying episodes. 14 days as of 2day. I'm hangin in there.. How about you? How are u doing? Have u heard anything from your son? I havent.. I wondered if they have a specific job according to their ship and Division. Like the 800s and 900s. hmmm... Let me know how your holding up.. : )
My son will leave Dec 14 to start boot camp.I can't believe that I will not see him on Christmas Day. Any advice on the graduation that anyone can give me I will appreciate.

I still cant find others thathave loved ones on the same ship. its so far 3.. if u locate any of them plz forward my info so we can all keep each other updated..
