Only your Sailor will know his particular flight details and he won't find those out until the week of PIR. If he flies out on Saturday any time, then the info in PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend tells you how that works. If he flies out Sunday, then yes, he will have Liberty on Saturday.
Your SR will enjoy holiday routine at the RTC and a nice meal. They relax the rules on Thanksgiving and Christmas so your SR will be able to relax a bit, but no, he will not be adopted. The 01/03/2014 and 01/10/2014 TG's are the ones being adopted for Christmas.
that would be awesome if they were:)) i received the box yesterday but no letter yet so i have no idea what ship or division yet..... and i have letters to send galore but trying to take all my navy moms advice and refrain from using the address that the recruiter gives and waiting on the letter..... which is so hard.... ugh!!!:) i hope your week is wonderful. Big (((NMH)))
My daughter left November 12, 2013. She was away for thanksgiving and now Christmas. Did you receive the Adopt A Sailor paper in the mail? You can read up on it, just google it. Families are allowed to check their recruit our for Christmas Day. My daughter will graduate 15 days after Christmas, she told us not to come. They will be adopted by different organization. In the area. They will be able to call on that day. We still have not verbally spoken to our daughter since that first night in bootcamp. I hope this helps

My son left yesterday, December 3, 2013. I received a call around 11:30pm, wondering if anyone else has a child who left yesterday? Also, how long until I receive an address or 'the box'
Hello, my son, Jared , leaves for BC on December 4th..... so proud but feel like i am not handling things well some days.... He is , of course , the baby!!!
So glad you found this site before he leaves for boot camp. I didn't! You will be so much more prepared than I was and so will he! There is so much helpful information here.
Hi Baby jay's mama! We're in a similar place along this journey -- my son enlisted in March and goes in October, then nuke school. Wow, it feels like a roller coaster -- doing okay most of the time, the occasionally get hit with emotion. I'm looking forward to getting back to more "normal" (whatever that is!) once he finally gets settled. Biggest challenge right now is how to fill his remaining time at home productively ... ugh!! Sending good thoughts to you.

Since your future Sailor will be in the Nuclear Field, you may also want to check out Nuke School Charleston and Nuke A School FAQ. The Rating Information Card for NF can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/nukepower.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
