Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

All Hands Magazine's full length documentary "Making a Sailor": This video follows four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video:"Importance of Navy OPSEC."
**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).
**UPDATE 8/25/2022 - MASK MANDATE IS LIFTED. Vaccinations still required.
**UPDATE 11/10/22 PIR - Vaccinations no longer required.

OH SWEET!!! My fiance and I already have our house and he is living in it right now and I'll be moving there on the 17th I am pretty stoked about it. It'll be a good change form Cali.
I cannot imagine a Navy guy not knowing what BAH is!!! It is Basic Allowance for Housing. Married sailors are entitled to it and if you are living off base you use it to pay rent and Utilities. If you live on base - you won't receive it as your rent and utilities will be covered by the Navy. Sometimes sailors like to live off base as they can make money...it depends on the area and how much BAH they are receiving. Single sailors that are E5 and above also receive BAH so they can live off base and get housing $$$$. Often they will share an apt. with two or three others and then they usually have some $$$ left from their BAH and it's their money to keep. Hope I didn't confuse you! Each area of the country has a different BAH rate - it's based on the housing costs of that area.
Hey Mitchell's babygirl! Wanted to welcome you to AECF and try to answer some of your questions. He may not find out till the end of boot camp if he is FC or ET but both are great rates and the A school program is fairly similiar for both rates. Expect him to be in GL for about a year and then he will move again for C school to a different state. Location and length is determined at the end of A school. Yes, you can move to GL while he is there but he needs to get a "live ashore" package approved before you move there at the Navy's expense. Also once he moves over to A school, it takes a few weeks for him to phase up - this gives him the privledge of wearing regular clothes and weekeend liberty including overnight stays. While in the AECF group, look at the discussion threads above - there is one called AECF wives club with lots of good info and support specifically about moving to GL. And if you have questions...just ask!!!
Im alright..I havent gotten a call yet so im a lil discouraged... I should be getting a letter tomorrow so that should make me feel better...Tomorrow he will be gone 3 full weeks...I miss him so much....
This is a test...one that we will pass with flying colors!! i had a rough time at first but I got the letter and I feel so much better!! I can't wait for a call...I'm dying to hear his voice!This whole thing has brought us closer together..You and your husband with be fine...Because there is no other option! I cant wait to see my hunny..Im going to latch onto him and NEVER let go...I will become a growth attached to his body=] i hope you are doing well.!! Im always here to talk..
Im doing amazing now that I got a letter...It has brought us so much closer...He is wanting to get married soon now...Said he wants to prove to me that he wants to spend forever with me!!! I have only seen moms too..I wonder where all the wives and gfs are too haha...Im sure they are around somewhere!! How are you?/.Have you heard from your hubby yet?
