Amen on the rain! Normally I have my sprinklers totally off in the summer but not this year....glad to see that GOD is watering for us for a while! As long as the hurricanes stay away!
I'll look forward to hearing from you with more news. Thinking positive!
Well, sounds like things are moving along! I'm glad there is lots of communication going on with you about it....sometimes the moms are left in the dark.
And, were you quoting a Jack Nicholson line at the end there...only changing "Can't" to "Can"??? hooYAH!
Yes, YOUR son would be among the "cream of the crop" which shows that all are paying the price, I guess. Mine also had his 2 yr college degree so went in as an E-3 also. Your son certainly has passed all of the special qualifications for this...seems right that he should get the rate. I don't begin to understand how the Navy does things...but believe me, I have been on this site since Dec of last year and have seen same situations posted many times. I wish I had an easy answer...but don't give up! PRAYER IS AN AMAZING THING!
One thing I'm leanring from this Navy experience is that...just when we think we are learning and "getting it," things are changed! This horrible ecomony is changing alot in all of the services, but especially the Air Force and Navy which are harder to get into (and smaller services). My son told me that just since he went in last Nov, they have raised the ASVAB score from 35 to 50. WOW! One recruit I read about went in as an RP (Religious Personnel--works with chaplain). That was her study in college. She was told a couple of weeks ago that they are full and she was changed to an LS. (not her request) She was NOT happy nor was her mom...but after several moms on the site talked to the mom, she realized that this may not be so bad and a good experience for her. Gone are the days when the Navy has to beg for enlistees...they are not in that position anymore and are getting the "cream of the crop" now affording them more careful selection. Seems like many are having a problem getting their rates...I will look forward to what you find out. In the meantime, pray hard !
Hey, Oh my. What a mess! I'm so sorry. I'm not familiar with this but have a suggestion for you. Go on PIR 8/6/2010 group. Join it (you can unjoin later if you want). so you can get on it Look down the posts and find "Hoppi aka Angie." She posted today...an Navy type emblem is her profile pik. "Friend" her and send a comment. She works at the GL base up there and is a career counselor for the Navy. I think she can help. She seems to know her STUFF! Please let me know what happens. I have heard others up there losing their rates, but I don't think they were reservists. Let me know what happens, ok?
Again, I am so sorry that he is going through this...but can't say I'm surprised at the recruiter not calling back :-( Heard that before too....Dianne
Hi, I will be happy to be your friend. My son is still a depper and will be leaving for BC October 25th. I see your son has a PIR in August? That is great. Yes, I live in CC but it is so hot. lol. I wanted to ask you what your son's rate is? My son has a rate of CTR. Talk to you later. K
So sorry, but there is a problem with your group coming up on the GROUPS/search option. And to add to the problem, another person started another group for the same PIR date. Hers comes up on the search. So, I think we need to delete your group and let hers stand since others can find hers. Hers is listed as PIR 8/20/10 rather than 2010. I prefer the 2010 to be in correct format, but we will let things stand as they are now until we get all on one page! Thanks for starting yours. My intention was to have her delete her group, but when I couldn't bring yours up except for through my page, then I felt others may not be able to find it. Hers came right up on the search. So sorry about that...so join the other group, ok? I notified Alabama Navy Mom who had joined yours to join the other one also. Again, sorry for the confusion.
By the way, I live just about 45 minutes south of you in Miami! Are you as tired of this HOT weather as I am? Oh boy! I walk my 2 dogs twice a day on an exercise walk, about 30 minutes each time. One at 6 a.m. and one at 10 p.m. Dripping wet afterwards even then! My parents are vacationing in NC right now and called to tell me it is in the 40's up there this morning....I hate them... :-) HA! Sure wish some of that was here! I drive up to Juno Beach all of the time....Navy son lived there for a while, nephew lives there, and my parents have had a condo there for 27 years, so I pass through Boca all of the time! BEAUTIFUL area.
Thanks so much for starting the group! That is great. The one I started last week is already up to 50 people. I posted on BOOT CAMP to you. It is a process of trying to catch the posts of other moms searching and rounding up those in your group. There will still be moms who are looking for division people rather than their group. I will try and help you direct them to your PIR group. That is much better than a division group. Thanks again!
