Hi - Yes we will be there.  Kind of hard to miss. I have 2 teenagers in wheelchairs.  We plan to go to the Meet & Greet at Sarge's since that's where the majority of people from here are going.  We are driving and plan to arrive on Thursday.

Wow! Congratulations =]... That's huge! I thought his graduation was the same as my husband's  for some reason. I bet you're counting the days just like I am!!

Hey! He's graduating 7/13!! Only 19 days away....omg I cannot wait! He also found out that his a school is only 4 weeks, and we thought it was 12... How's everything going with you? When's your bf graduating?

Have you gotten the box yet? Or a letter or anything?

At 2:16am on May 30, 2012, karianne (Ship 12 Div 219) said…

Yeah, they have guest limits. They can only invite 4 guests. Children (under 12 I think), and retired or active military don't count. He'll have written the names of his guests in the PIR packet. I'm assuming they can change the names on the list if they want to. Just ask his mom if you were on the list.... I am sure you were!

No, ask every single question you can... PIR stands for pass in review, and basically means boot camp graduation. I got a little packet, like three pages, of graduation information for him. It had his mailing address, Division number and Ship number, grad date, some general information about what we can and can't bring to graduation, stuff like that. ANNNND, best part, he wrote a small note on the back of the pages =]

Hey, I got my PIR packet in the mail! Totally cried when it came... My husband is Ship 12 Div 219.

Will you be flying? I was looking at prices for plane tickets and the absolute cheapest I found was about 220 round trip, at southwest.com. They only fly into Chicago Midway though. But it can't be all that different from flying into Chicago O'Hare, as far as the distance from Great Lakes is concerned. The really great thing about Southwest is no baggage fees (which cost like $50 per bag usually!) and no cancellation fees! Which, say they (KNOCK ON WOOD) get pushed back a week, you can move your flight date without an extra fee. Southwest is about the only airline that flexible with their fees.

I know what you mean! I just want to hear from him that he's doing okay! He went to boot camp sick! So I'm hoping that first processing week gave him time to rest a little. I've read that there will be a short note from our recruits on either the box or the grad packet they send home (I feel like 50% of my day is reading online about the Navy and boot camp or writing him, haha)

I'm definitely trying to keep my letters upbeat and only mention that I miss him, rather than dwell on how miserable it is at home without him. After all, they are going through our feelings of missing loved ones PLUS Navy boot camp and everything that goes with it!

Does your boyfriend like sports or anything? I read some great advice for writing letters, they suggested sports scores, or comics... Except I read that another recruit was sent comics from the paper and he couldn't have them. My husband loves music, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I wrote down the lyrics to his favorite song, so he could at least hear it in his head. I also wrote some Mitch Hedberg jokes I thought he'd like. We used to listen to his CDs together on long car rides. Just some ideas for writing him.

Still it seems like he'll never come home. I can't believe it's ONLY been a week. Hopefully the next few weeks will go by more quickly. I've got to move by Wednesday, and my birthday is Thursday, and the following Monday school start. I'm hoping after all this, some time will have flown by.

I read that we're supposed to get their mailing address in about 10 days from the start of boot camp... So hopefully next week!!!

Hey! My husband left the same day your boyfriend did! I've been scouring trying to find someone who had someone in the same recruit class. I read your post about missing him, and I can definitely relate! I also see that you're from Colo... I'm living in Tennessee, but I'm from Fort Collins, so that's pretty crazy.

How are you doing now? Have you been writing your boyfriend? It helps me so much to write letters! I was talking with my family yesterday and they laughed that I had already written multiple letters, because to them it had only been a full day without Trey here. But to us who are used to having our significant others around 24/7, one day is full of moments without them which makes it really tough.

I'd love to talk back and forth with someone who can relate. So I'm here for you to talk to! Hang in there.... Everyone keeps telling me it'll be over quickly. We'll see about that I guess.
