Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

All Hands Magazine's full length documentary "Making a Sailor": This video follows four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video:"Importance of Navy OPSEC."
**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).
**UPDATE 8/25/2022 - MASK MANDATE IS LIFTED. Vaccinations still required.
**UPDATE 11/10/22 PIR - Vaccinations no longer required.

I can't wait until PIR and am looking forward to meeting you and all the good parents of these great sailors that we raised. We are all so proud of our kids. Serving their country was their choice and it is an honorable one. We must have done something right in raising our sons and daughters.
Ok - not sure how far I am from Evansville. About one hour away from Indianapolis. I am getting so excited for PIR and seeing my son. I know he will be a great man.
My great great grandfather (there might be another great in there) founded Jonesboro. My family is scattered all over there - Marion and Fairmount. Very small world. My mother and father both graduated from Marion High School. I got his address today - I talked with his recruiter. So tonight I am going to write my first letter. His gf was excited and she is mailing the one she wrote the day he left.
All great information...is your daughter close enough to her father and brother to write a couple of letters to her brother and get the address from him to send them??? May be an option?

Sailor in the box should come soon...I just found the answer to my question! You may want to go to the 'groups' tab at the top of the page and search for 'boot camp' there. You will find quite a few different groups...start looking for people who had recruits that went in at the same time as yours. You may find out add'l information. I can't imagine if you had been in contact with him 3 times a day that he would not at least write to you. The men in charge of these recruits are pretty pushy when it comes to recruits contacting their moms...letter writing. When mine was @ boot...they were encouraged to write every Sunday afternoon. I can imagine that his earned phone calls may go to his gf...but I would imagine that he will want to let you know about PIR (graduation). For info ahead of time on this...check out the blog in the center of the top of the 'main' page of this website (see tabs just under the N4M banner) called PIR for Dummies. It is very helpful.
How long has he been at boot? Do you have contact with the gf? She may be willing to share the address. Your 'sailor' sounds about like mine, except I did not get to go to MEPS or see him off @ airport. I met his recruiter when he picked him up to go to MEPS...but that was: this is mom...this is dad...this is recruiter...and then he was gone. He didn't have a gf, so I did get the sailor in a box.
I can't imagine him wanting to send his dirty clothes & shoes to his gf, but I guess it is possible.
By the way...love the pix on your page...I assume a car show...which one?
I make a 2 hour drive each time I make the trip...up Hwy 57...and generally try to make it monthly.
Maybe we could meet on one of my trips to or from Cincy...I take 50 across fairly often for long weekends, parents/sister medical issues, birthdays, and other family celebrations.

As a Nuke...has he chosen surface or sub...has he chosen MM, ET, or EM...encourage him to always be his best...There are three Nuke mom's that try to attend the Monday night dinner in Avon.
The Southern group is not very active...mostly started for the greater Evansville area. The Indiana group tries to have a gathering in some part of the state once every 3-4 months. We also eat out in Avon (just W of Indy) one Monday nite a month.
