It's been a while since I've been on. So I need to update. I apologize to everyone.  I am an avid blogger and writer on FB.  My son is now stationed in Goose Creek. He went through Power School did well and then was asked to go through ELT training (which is the chemistry training.  He did that and was asked if he would teach.  So now he is a JSI and stationed there for next 2 1/2 years. He is now an E5 and hopes to make E6 before going out.  A little bit of good news Thomas got married.  He married a little southern belle last Feb. Her name is Lauren and I just love her.

I've been in a battle too  My mom got breast cancer so dealt with that and now I am on a six month watch for both breast and cervical.  But I believe G-d is good and He will see me through .. Blessings and Shalom to all.

Kimber, I hope you will take this in the spirit in which it is intended, that is information. The only good thing about thyroid cancer, is that there is no chemotherapy needed. They give radioactive iodine and it destroys ALL thyroid cells without damaging any other cells in the body.

Hi Kimber, I am WAAAYY behind on keeping up with everybody. My daughter had thyroid cancer 10 years ago. She had thyroid removed and has been fine since. I understand what a worry it is with a child having medical problems though. Sounds like Thomas is doing great! Congrats on your new Petty Officer. Be sure you don't miss Power School graduation......it is awesome! Jeff found out last week that when he is finished with Prototype (late July) he will be going to Hawaii and will be on a fast attack sub. This is exactly what he wanted so he is one happy camper. My husband and I are looking forward to visiting him! Pat

I haven't been on in a while. I am dealing with my older son who has Thyroid Tumors. He just had a second Ultrasound and will be scheduled for a Biopsy. To update you with Thomas... I was down in Goose Creek over Memorial Weekend. We had such a good time. Thomas is looking good. He has dropped more weight and is down to HS weight when he played Football. He took us to Patriot's Point which was awesome. I would recommend everyone visit. The Medal of Honor museum is awesome.

I got a call from Thomas. My phone rings Anchors Aweigh ;) He graduates this coming Friday with honors from A School. He has applied to OCS and waits to hear on that. He will next begin Power school but I don't know when it will start. I would like to go down for his graduation but he said A school is not that big of deal. Thomas has a Birthday July 15th and I want to surprise him somehow.

Hi Kimber, Just wanted to say hi. I've been really busy and am catching up with friends. How's your sailor liking Goose Creek? My sailor is in Prototype and had a 4 day weekend so he came home last Thursday nite. We had a great time just hanging out with family and friends. He flew back on Mon. and I always feel a little down for a couple of days when he leaves. Hope all is good with you. Pat

Here's the BEQ where your nukes live at first. Remember this is almost 2 years old, and the reference to the books is because all the guys read them to have something to talk about with the gals when they were in town.

Hope you get to make your road trip! It's great. I'm close to St. Louis if you need a stop over place. My ice tea is northern tea (not sweetened--lol!) YOu will love the Charelston area if you have never been there before!

Hi Kimber, PIR was pretty impressive, wasn't it? Sorry about our Chicago weather, sometimes it is just the pits. Well, Thomas should be settling into his room by now. He will really appreciate things being a little more relaxed than basic. Now he should have 1 or 2 weeks of INDOC (indoctrination) before they class up and start hitting those books!! So glad you had a good time and are home safely. Talk to you soon. Pat

Kimber, Sent you 2 pictures. Looks nice, doesn't it? We were at GC in Nov. for Jeff's graduation from Power School. Advice for Thomas??....don't get behind. When they have mandatory study hours (ALL studying is done in the classroom building) in the evening, there are instructors there to help. If he needs help, ASK!! Hope you like the pics!!

Good Morning Kimber, Thank you for the friend request. We live in the Chicago suburbs so you will be coming to my neck of the woods for PIR. Friday is supposed to be cloudy and 59 degrees. When your sailor gets to Goose Creek he will get assigned his room and given his INDOC (indoctrination) address. INDOC usually lasts 1-2 weeks and then they "class up" and the work begins!! I have a couple of great pictures of the barracks. Private message me your email address and I'll send them to you. If you think of questions, don't hesitate to ask. Again welcome. Pat
