Return dates are fairly solid - give or take a day or three. I remember one deployment in particular - kept saying those horrible good byes to my husband and would drive him to the base and a few hours later...he would be walking back in the door again! Bonus day!!! That particular cruise, there were typhoons out there and they had to report every morning but three days in a row, he was sent back home as they delayed the ship due to weather. It was awesome getting a bonus day - and then terribly hard saying goodbye...again!

The ship communicated with the ombudsman and we would have a phone tree set up for all of the families so they would know what time to show up at the pier. Such excitment!!

The captain usually is right on as far as the day pending weather or something unpredictable. They know families are waiting and sailors are anxious to see their loved ones.

ATT - is the Advance Technical Training program for ETs and FCs but I suspect that Colton will spend a few days there as well before he finishes in GL.

Portsmouth is a huge Naval yard! Will he be on a ship homeported there or did he get shore orders? I know you are happy that he will be in the USA!!!

Good Morning!!
Derek just texted me that his orders have changed to Portsmouth, Virginia!!

Keep him in your prayers, please!!! This is the continental US, he is probably not going to be happy!!

I do believe that God has a plan for him, I just hope that Derek want to fit into God's plan. I want my baby to first be in God's will but second to be happy with his life!!!
His is making a big commimtment to not be happy with it!!!
Thanks,
Brenda

You are darling Brenda, I'm going to try to take a closer look at it this weekend and will let you know.

The nerve of that Molly!! Family over us?!!! We could have made a b-day cake for her afterall!!!
At 11:56am on May 16, 2008, Brenda Sue said…
Hi, I came here to tell you that Molly backed out on us. Her family has convinced her that they are more important than us. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?????
She also thinks that she can get a better tan in Oregon than in Texas - I guess she failed her geography courses!!
Well, Kimberly is still planning on coming. I have not heard from Shell lately - but . . .We will all be there and it will be a pretty cheap trip - no hotel and no rental!! I do not have to work so I can pick you up and drop you off any day, any time.

My husband would agree that they are in the best field as well LynnDear. Although he maybe heart broken if his son gets switched to ET vs FC!! But we also know it depends on the "needs" Nick has one more week of his current school and then hopes that ATT starts without another hold, he is anxious to start school for their field of work and is quite okay if he gets a ship before C. So did Wade get to make a computer yet? My husband was telling Nick this am that they start them off really simple with a light bulb and battery but eventually they will make a computer! Nick has a collection of old computers that he had been wanting to take them all apart and build a new one but never got to finish it. They really have a great future in front of them.

Hi Mary, was wondering last night where you had been - I was missing you!!!
Sure wish you could come to Texas - the group is growing. I think Kimberly from California is coming, Molly from Oregon, maybe from Patty from Wshington and Shell from South Dakota. We have a couple from Louisiana, also. We need more representation from the east coast. Sure wish you could join!!! Nicole has offered us her house, you definitely won't need to rent a car - you have to eat anyway - so, it is just air fare!!!
Would love to have you join us!!!

My two grandkids invited me out to dinner (I'm not sure who gave them the "nudge") and it was really nice. They are such great kids. My oldest daughter was out of town and of course Matt's in San Diego and my other daughter is in Burbank. I got a chance to talk to all of them yesterday. My hubby gave me roses, tulips and a hugh lemon cake (which I don't need) but really tasted good! My first Mother's Day with no kids in town....

Hook up that webcam - here are our plans!!!

Howdy - It is time to get this get together together!!!

We need to start getting numbers so we can reserve rooms, get discounts, etc.
At this point in time our plans are as follows:
Friday, June 27 Meet at hotel: Hilton Houston Hobby Airport
(Hilton Houston Hobby Airport: http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/HOUHAHF-Hilton-Houston-Hobby-Airport-Texas/index.do) (convenient for anyone flying into Houston) free shuttle to hotel $96/night if you book on Expedia.com, $95.20 if you prepay in full with hotel. Coyote has a call in to see if we can get a better rate as a small group.
Off to dinner either in Kemah (Kemah: http://www.kemahboardwalk.com). It's about a 20 minute drive from hotel. (I am talking to Landry’s and the Aquarium) or in Houston near the hotel. We will probably start gathering around 6:00. There are all kinds of things to do (rides, shopping, etc.) in Kemah with a family, if you choose to go earlier.
There are fireworks Friday evening at 9:30 in Kemah.

Spend in the night in Houston (close to Kemah and Galveston - but cheaper).
Saturday, June 28 - convoy it over to Galveston and spend the day at Moody Gardens (it is not just flowers - see the website: http://www.moodygardens.com). There is lots to do there, you can buy a day pass for $44.95 or just pay for the things you want to do with individual event tickets. (Range in prices, so go to their website.)

I will probably go home Saturday evening - but if you choose to stay, there is a lot to do in the area - we could help you make a mini vacation of it.

Please let me know on the blog on my page if you plan on attending. Please be specific (i.e. Galveston only or don’t need hotel or Kemah only) if you are only attending parts of it. We need to know numbers so we can get some group rates!!!

SOOOOO looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible - I know we will have a great time - We all have something in common (and I know I could talk for hours about it) - OUR SAILORS!!!!

Here are the websites again: (thanks, Coyote!!!)
