Hello, and thank you for the welcome and the info you provided. My daughter left for boot camp on may 19th.I'm still heart broken and trying to composed my self.I miss her so much and sometimes I come home and cry my heart out. I can't wait to see her again!! I know I have to get use to the idea of not having her around me any more thoug.
I received a 5 minute phone call from my daughter today. She arrived a boot camp on May 14th after delay due to flight cancelation. She was crying of course as I hear many recruits do. I told her how proud we are and asked her what had happened so far. Her division was in PDays for over 2 weeks. Now she has dental work on Monday so may get further behind. She is also in a push division. She received my first letter and gets to start writing tomorrow. I've read up on boot camp but would love to hear feedback from others on what this all means. Thank you.
Thank you for the welcome message. This is all new to me and although I am very proud of his decision to join, I am also very nervous about what to expect. I'm sure that I will learn a lot from everyone and again thank you for the welcome.
Thank you~~~I look forward to learning new things about the navy. My Grandson arrived on May 13th and I am so anxious to hear from him....Is it ok to say his DIV # on this website???? Hopefully if so I can connect with other family from the same DIV. Godspeed to all these great men and women
Hello Navy Moms. I am new to the site, but heard about the site from another Navy Mom. My son has been in the Navy since 2010. It has been both a rewarding and challenging decision as it has been for most. I believe in strength in numbers. My son is currently stationed in Japan. The last time that I have seen him was November 3012. During that time, he has faithfully served w/o complaining enduring long work hours and long continuos tours on the ship. As a mom, I am blessed to hear from him via telephone every 4 - 6 weeks. My eldest son is in the Air-force w/grandson. The last time my immediate family was together was Thanksgiving 2011. My eldest son is graduating w/Undergraduate Degree, and I feel like this would be the perfect time for our family reunion. As a heartsick mom, who can I appeal to to ensure that his vacation time is granted. After 1 1/2 years away from loved ones, I do not feel that my request is unreasonable. I am a faithful USO and Wounded Warrior Contributor. Your advice and assistance is needed. (Please excuse any typos)
Prayerfully yours,
Navy Mom - Lewis
My daughter finished "A" school. She's now a proud MM. She just arrived in Norfolk, VA to her ship. She was excited and ready for a change. Unfortunately, she was unpleasantly surprised with the sleeping area. How did your daughters feel about living on a ship? Also, how long will they live on the ship? Any suggestions on how to cope??
Overall, she is very proud to be in the Navy. She has accomplished so much and I'm sure she'll continue to do well.
I know this will be an amazing journey for her. I pray that she keeps an positive perspective on every situation.
