OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I hope to see you in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).

Click on OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and the Page will open in a new window. Read the Page and follow the directions at the bottom to make change 3 (see the words in bold) so that this page is no longer visible to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web. Don’t forget to click the “Save” button at the bottom.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with you or your recruit.

Since your recruit will go to “A” School for Damage Controlman (DC), join Damage Control Mom's and you may also find others with loved ones with that rating in Engineers, Snipe Moms(enginers), and Snipe Moms (not active). You will also want to join Great Lakes A School Q&A and GL A-school moms. You can also check out the Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes Facebook Page.

The Rating Information Card for DC can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/dc.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.)

You will be able to enjoy extra time with your Sailor following PIR. (See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend.)
