OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Profile Information

A little about me:
I am happily married to a former Navy man and now three of our four children are in the Navy as well. My oldest daughter was in the Navy and served 4 years she also married a Navy guy who served 4 years. They have two beautiful girls. I work part-time and try to keep busy so that I don't worry so much about my kids. I try to stay positive and I am proud that they have moved on to better things. I feel that the Navy is the best thing for my kids. They are so much stronger for making the decision they did. My husband has built a great career starting out in the Navy.
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?

When I heard “Navy,” I...
was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
to be supportive and give lots of encouragement. It is a major life change and they need to know that we are there for them in all that they do.
Our Navy experience so far...
has been positive and maturing.

Click on OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and the Page will open in a new window. Read the Page and follow the directions at the bottom to make change 3 (see the words in bold) to change "Anyone" to "Members" so that this page is no longer visible to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web. Don’t forget to click the “Save” button at the bottom.

There may be other changes you need to make as wellso read and consider each of the changes.

Join, or at least check out, Logistic Specialists, Sailors attending A School in Meridian, Mississippi, and Meridian Mississippi A School family&friends. You will also want to check out NAS Meridian Facebook Page and NTTC Meridian Facebook Page.

The Rating Information Card for LS can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ls.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.) Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. Plan to leave late Saturday or on Sunday. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

I have given some info on timing in http://navyformoms.ning.com/forum/topics/pls-help-when-can-i-resign-from-my-job.

Those with an LS contract MAY receive their orders for their first duty station while still in Boot Camp, some as late as the last week before PIR.

(Those with the LS rating who will be on Subs go to Meridian after BC and then to Groton for BESS.  If your recruit has a contract for LSS, then you will also want to join Sub Moms and check out Naval Submarine Base New London Facebook Page.)

The Rating Information Card for Aviation Ordnanceman can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ao.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.)

Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR, but may fly out on Sunday due to flight availability issues. Plan to leave on Sunday if you are able. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend.
