OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Son requested books to donate to ship to share...

My son asked me to send books to him that were military history yesterday to share.  He said preferably not Navy or Unbroken because there was an abundance of those.  I put out a request to my neighbors, friends & family on social media.  The generosity was incredible.  I had many people asking for his address to send him books.  I received a bag of books on my doorstep today that do not meet the criteria of military books, so I'm unsure of sending them.  There are over a dozen books of…See More

Son is recovering from knee surgery. Outlook?

Hello, any advice is greatly appreciated.  I will try to just give the short story.  My son stress fractured hus leg on the last week of bootcamp on his final run & was put into a full leg cast on July 6th, 2018.  The cast was removed in August 2018.  A couple days later, he slipped & tore his tendon.  This injury required surgery.  He is back at Ship 04 recovering.  He is so much stronger than I am.  I miss him very much & knowing that he is injured makes it harder.  Has anyone had…See More

Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) and change the Privacy Settings for this page from "Anyone" to "Members."

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

Let me know when he joins a division with a PIR date.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info.

If you would like information on your recruit’s rating (job/occupational specialty) or field, then let me know the rating or field. There are groups for most specialties and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Take care and blessings to you and yours.
