OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

RTC Graduation

**UPDATE 8/25/2022 - MASK MANDATE IS LIFTED.  Vaccinations still required.

**UPDATE 11/10/22 PIR - Vaccinations no longer required.

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Oh yeah, we also have two little ones that won't make it to the graduation but will be at the hotel waiting to surprise him.

Hi - yeah, I think it helps a lot.  Unfortunately for us, the driver wrote "VOID" inside the box where the signature goes, so we were forced to go to the FedEx location on 43rd and I believe Indian School.  Yes it was a trek but as you know, well worth it.  That's awesome!!! Your son is exactly where mine is.  SHIP 13 DIV 240 ( on Sailor Drive) PIR June 28th.  I'm so excited.  Just glad to know I now have a goal to look forward to.  All I do know is that I will booking with Southwest.  If I learned anything from these ladies out here on N4M, it's to book with Southwest, unless you don't mind the change fees.  Just in case, our guys are held up for any reason, it's good to have.  We'll have to fly into Midway and that's a little farther than O'hare but, it should be fine.  As far as hotels?? I'm still working on that one.  I'm really picky about where I stay.  Unfortunately, there could be upwards of a thousand people doing the exact same thing we're doing so the pickings could get slim.  Yeah I think I remember a Jonathan.. I meant to take a photo of them all but was way too nervous and ill prepared :) there was only 7 of them and they had to stay together until the got past the security check in.  Everyone was so quiet - I remember thinking I wanted to hug each and everyone of them just so they knew that some one was there.  They did wait for everyone to board before the got on - taking in the last bits of life as they knew it I suppose.  I hugged my son and then yelled to them all good luck - they all turned around and in unison said "thank you"....

Hello MariElaine,

It's feels good to know there are others going through the same emotional roller coaster.. It's not been easy, and some days (even though it's only been a week) are better than others.  But, getting his box and letter help me feel a little at ease knowing that he must be ok and on track. Have you received your son's info yet? PIR date, division, etc? I may have seen him if he was at the MEPS on Central.  I also got a pass to sit with my son at the gate while they waited to board the plane.  I may have spoken to him, lol... Yes, I too have one out of the nest - he's my oldest.. I've got two more but they are young.. I have time before my nest is empty....

Hi, welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. I see that you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your last name; you also need to change the URL to this page. Number 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile) (clickable link) will tell you how to fix that. There may be other changes you will want to make as well. When did or will your future Sailor ship to the RTC? Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Welcome aboard Marielaine! My SR's box came about a week after he left; and then we received the form letter about a week after that. It will be three weeks this coming Tuesday that our SR left for BC, and we finally got a phone call today. He seemed very good about everything. He said that he probably will not be able to call again for a couple weeks, but said he is going to try and write us tomorrow. Again, welcome aboard. These Navy Moms are amazing!
