OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Liberty,
How is your son doing?
My daughter is enjoying her time on her ship and learning all of the new hands on skills. We did get a chance to so a surprise visit at the beginning of the month. I hope that your son is finding the field enjoyable for him.
I hope all is well with you also, it has been a while since I have been on this sight.
Have a great night. Sharon

I am so glad to find another GSE mom! There do not seem to be many on this site. Of course, I am not sure if it is because there are not many to begin with! This is a new rate for my son and I am trying to figure it all out.Starting all over learning all of the ins and outs. So, your daughter has been given a room since the ship is out? From what I am reading that would seem to be a big plus! It seems that at some bases the rooms are very hard to come by. When was your daughter's PIR?

If your Username contains your last name, you need to make changes 1, 2, and 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

There are no groups for just loved ones of Gas Turbine Systems Technician - Electrical (GSE), but you may find some in Engineers, Snipe Moms, and Snipe Moms(enginers). You may want to check out Mom’s of Navy Daughters, Mom's of Daughters 2, and Women in the Navy.

I see you have joined USS Howard DDG 83 Mom's; you may also want to check out Destroyer Moms (DDG), San Diego Moms or Sailors in San Diego, San Diego Moms/SOs and/or Sailors Stationed in California. What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty)? There may be a group for that as well.
