Instead of just telling you about what your son or daughter will be experiencing at BC, Chief Arlene Maier will be your guide through this behind-the-scenes peak at Great Lakes. She’s actually an RDC at Boot Camp – a mom of three herself – and she’ll show you where your Sailor will be sleeping, eating, and training.

This video is part of a series to acclimate you to the many different areas of the Navy. We hope it helps you feel more informed about the Boot Camp experience and we encourage you to share it with your Sailor so they can get a preview of what’s to come!

Ladies I promise you that once boot camp is over life gets better. You will be able to talk to your Sailor often. Hang in there.

DanetteR.  The Navy has highly trained swim instructors. If your son is determined and is not afraid to learn he will pass. Just write him lots of letters of encouragement.

Ladies today is a really hard day for me I am missing my son so bad right now! I know it is for the best and he needs to grow but I just want to hold on to him forever! I really am struggling with out him right now, he use to be my  listen man I talk he'd listen and then help snap me back into reality! I just want to hear him say mom I am ok! I know he will struggle with the swimming but I don't want him to fail because it will lower his self esteem! I hope he can feel myspirit pushing him to do his thing!

My son is graduating on August 5th from Great Lakes IL. Is there anyone else here with a child that graduates the same time.

Hello danette my son left 7/11 to meps in san antonio and on 7/12 to great lakes, illinois.  The phone call you got was from your son?  I received the bon 2 days ago but have not heard from him.  Was he granted the call?

My son left 7/11/11 and the first day was the hardest for me I broke down. I went into his room and got it together I just pray he puts his best foot forward because he has so much he could be doing. I am so thankful for the mothers here that can identify with what I am going through because I hate having to feel like the only one! I just want to know that he is actually ok I am so anxious to get the first letter from him. I post a love and support message on his FB everyday so he can see what I feel and how much I miss and love him once he is able to read it.
