this is my last post to this site as my son, who worked his butt off to become shop head at SDNB was released. I am shocked, saddened, and disgusted that instead of performance reviews all names are dropped into a hat and those pulled are sent on their way. He worked very hard and wanted to make a career of the Navy. Now he is in the highest expense area with only his wife's income. As she is Navy also they won't reassign her. To add injury to insult, his DD214 was wrong and he can't apply to school until it is fixed. Very, very angry.

I am so very sorry to hear this.  Let's hope they get his DD214 straightened out quickly so he can apply to school.  He will get BAH while he is enrolled in school (full time) so that should help them out financially.  Hang in there - as difficult as it seems right now things will get better.  Vent on here as much as you want - and then try to be the biggest cheerleader/supporter you can for your son and his wife.  hugs to you

Hi, new to the forum and my son is at Pensacola, graduated PIR 02/25/21.  So sorry to hear about your son and can tell you from experience as a Navy brat and now, a Navy mom that the military works same as a corporate structure.  It is what you make of it and as much as you need to be stellar in job performance, sailors also need to network and make connections in the Navy.  Petty officers have favorites and will definitely be partial, so it's about getting noticed and going over the chain command at times.  Due to the quarantines and Covid, schools are backed up and they are whittling down fast and without discretion.  These sailors coming out of boot camp over the last 8 months are going up against so many odds and there will be casualties of the process.  Again, so sorry this happened to your son, yet BsNukeMom is correct that God always has a plan and works for our good.
