Kelly - Do you know his division #?

Also here is the RTC link to the address information. Recruit Training Command - FAQ (navy.mil)

They don't list the names of the ships, just the numbers. I think the SRs are more likely to call their BEQ by the ship name than the number that is used for the postal service. My thought is you should just use the Ship # 12

You can also put both the ship name and the ship # on the envelope. If you do that, write his name on one line, the USS Triton on the next line and then the Ship # and Div # on the next line. Be sure to follow the order as it is written out on the website link I gave you. (be sure to scroll down the page.)

Kelly - I wasn't finding anything else to verify that the USS Triton and Ship 12 were one and the same except for this statement on a Wikipedia article. So I am fairly certain that you will be fine with using Ship 12 and the Division # for the address. If you accidently put Triton if you still had the division # it should still find its way to your sailor, as long as you have the street address correct because of how the Postal Service auto readers, read the mail, from bottom to top.

USS Triton Recruit Barracks (Ship 12)[edit]

USS Triton bell dedication ceremony

USS Triton Recruit Barracks (Ship 12) was dedicated in ceremonies held on 25 June 2004. The facility honors the memory of two submarines named Triton and includes memorabilia from both ships, USS Triton (SS-201) and USS Triton (SSRN-586). Triton Hall is the fifth barracks constructed under the RTC Recapitalization Project, covering 172,000 square feet (15,979 square meters) in floor space. The facility is designed to accommodate 1056 recruits, and it includes berthing, classrooms, learning resource centers, a galley, a quarterdeck, and a modern HVAC system.[11][12] On 17 May 2012, in a dedication ceremony, the long-missing ship's bell was added to the collection of artifacts in Recruit Training Command's USS Triton recruit barracks quarterdeck (pictured)" Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois - Wikipedia

You are welcome!! I am glad you saw my message. You had disconnected, so I wasn't sure if you would check again to see if someone replied.

For future reference, I see that you are part of the BC Mom group. Do you know how to go to our page for that group, scroll down most of the way, past the information page, past the discussions in that group and post a question in the comment wall. More members, especially the BC Mom members will be likely to see your questions there, because most of those go into the members email feeds. I had just happened onto the site earlier and saw your post in the latest activity. - Just FYI.

Hugs, I know all of this can be very emotional and trying to figure out addresses and such.

My son was in Ship 12 when he was in BC, and yes it is the Triton. You do not need to put the name of the ship on the envelope only the ship #. If you only put the ship name in the address it will get to him, but do continue to use Ship 12.
