KYNavyMom....welcome...I think we are going in to week 7...it is the longest 9 weeks of our lives. Very little communication. It is hard for us (moms/dads/loved ones)...but harder on the SRs. Stay strong. Write often...don't expect a return letter...but keep your phone on you at all times; cuz the calls can come any time (my experience Friday 4pm, Sat 9am...so far). We missed the "I arrived" call...our internet was down. This site has helped tremendously. ..cuz we are all in the same boat. No pun intended. ⚓ You become friends with the people who offer support. Check out the Sandboxx app...my son loved it. It is worth the few dollars...I got the 8week plan and sent additional letters and notes through the week. As the recruiter told us over and over again...No news is good news. You will get through this....this site has been my saving grace...cuz everyone here knows how hard it is and how you feel. Best Wishes...and it is ok to cry and feel a little empty. This groups helps fill the void.
My son also shipped put on 4/2. I sent you a friend request. I live in Chicagoland, so i am near to the base! Would love to connect with another mom!
Phoenixmom - Just want you to know that I am keeping you and your hubby in my prayers and hoping that things settle down and the healing goes well.
My son arrived on 4/3 and that evening we got the call. I am so glad I was prepared for it. Thankful for this site. Its crazy how emotional I feel. Proud yet tearful, up and down, trying to be what my son would want me to be... strong. Waiting for the form letter. It helps having the post office email me what is going to be in my mail box every morning! I never realized what military families go through, the strength it takes is amazing. This group definitely helps me feel connected as I am getting used to my new "normal."
