E3 navy mom,
It's so hard for parents, and even new recruits, to get all the correct info from the recruiters about what to bring and not bring. Was there something your daughter wanted to bring that you or her weren't sure she could have? My daughter took a small wallet to keep her ID and bank card in as they allowed to visit a Navy Exchange to pick up necessities they may need. She also took a small amount of cash. She also had a small address book, no bigger than 3 x 5. Inside some of the pages she pasted a small picture she printed out on plain white typing paper and cut down to size. That and a small bible she got at MEPS was all she had with her. You can send her a list of all the addresses she may want to send letters to if she doesn't have them memorized. And you can send small pictures printed on regular paper as long as you don't add too much into an envelope at once. Anything too thick and she may be made to open it in front of her RDC and the rest of her company. If there is anything else I can help you with, please don't hesitate to ask. I sent you a personal welcome on your profile page!!
My daughter arrived 17JUL she is in ship 4 division 344
Mine arrived 8/14. I'm new too. I know I'll eventually figure this out but wow! A lot I don't know even her "job" code. she couldn't explain it to me before she left either.
Missed the Fed Ex box drop - we weren't home and they didn't leave it so now I guess I'm waiting for some type of form letter.
Got a "Restricted" call last night which i NEVER answer then read that it could be her. Ugh! Chewing on guilty feelings now.
We'll get thru this!
Patchouli Chick,
So sorry you didn't know about watching out for restricted calls or calls from Waukegan area code. If it's a restricted number it could have come from an office and chances are she needs some information. She may call back tomorrow. Be prepared!!!! Also sorry you missed the Fed Ex delivery. They should have left you a notice. Hope they redeliver soon!!!!
Don't feel guilty - we're all new to this at one time or another!!!! It will get better!!
