potterycat, I hate that feeling.  She's in good hands. Sit down with a cup of relaxing tea and write her a letter, that always helped me.

Whether or not we realize it, we worry about our girls constantly.  It doesn't matter if they're in the military or away at college. 

Oleander you'll love this: I had a dream Friday night that my sailor and I were out shopping when a terrible storm came up.  We hid in the basement of a department store, but the building was being torn apart by the severity of the storm.  My daughter told me that if she died she would send me purple butterflies when she got to heaven so I'd know she was safe.  The next morning I woke up thinking I'd call her, but decided it was better to wait.  Sure enough she happened to call me a couple hours later to check in :).  She assured me that if anything ever happened she'd send the purple butterflies, but that I had to do the same for her.

That's not meant to freak you out, just a reflection that as moms we always worry and we always have a solution.  You'll note that we were together and it was an act of nature, nothing military about this dream.  Oh yeah, and we escaped the storm because she had to go to the bathroom and we were safe in there.  Ha.

I woke up in a panic this morning.  It's been a week since I saw or heard from my girl.  This is the longest time I've spent with no communication with her since I found out about her.  I'm hanging in there but miss her a lot!

I'm sure she'll be kept busy - those sailors still need to eat.  But in all honesty she will probably spend her first few months cranking!!  That's where the new sailors spend time doing all kinds of odd jobs at their command.  Funny thing - I was stationed at NAS North Island and my cranking duty was at the galley!!!!  When my son went on the George Washington he was assigned to do laundry!!!! It's really nice that you have a connection with another Navy Mom on here whose daughter is on the same ship.  Make sure you look for her ship's facebook page!!!!!!

Mom of Deanna, they still seem to have plenty to do. My daughter is a Nuke and her group stays busy with reactor maintenance. Not sure what the CS group is doing but I'm sure there are a million things that we couldn't dream of!

Mom of Deanna that's great!  It's an overwhelmingly large ship but you find your way around pretty fast.  As a momma you're in luck as they're in the ship yard getting regularly scheduled maintenance so there's not a deployment in your near future.

Congratulations JayDee659! That’s exciting news for sure. What a cute couple they are! 
My daughter is graduating from A school this Friday and got her orders. One of the moms on here said she thinks she might be on the same ship as your daughter?
