Oh wait... I lost the thread. You're talking Vegas?? That's close to me. I will be there the second to last week in June. Is that on the table??? Could we meet up? Yay! Crossing fingers.

I'm jealous watching OK plans firm up. I want in!! I can't do that, but we'll be in Jacksonville over Christmas...anyone in the area then????

Molly is on the fast track at the hospital there as a commander took notice. She's so happy which makes me happy.

Oleander,

So would after May 2nd be better for you?? Otherwise hubby and I have to rush from OK to NV to get there mid April. How about everyone else - - - - -

I'm up for Vegas too!  We have B's wedding in July (7/19/20) but other than that I should be open to most dates ;-D

Comment by Anna on October 16, 2019 at 9:56pm

JayDee,

I will certainly let you and Oleander know just as soon as I can pin down a date.  The weather is the biggest issue - making sure that we can drive from Florida to Oklahoma and then on to Vegas without encountering winter!!!!!

Comment by JayDee659 on October 16, 2019 at 10:30am

I'm in.  BUT I need a heads up as early as possible as to the date so that I can get a decent priced ticket!  Anna, as soon as you nail down your date, let us know.  SW has spring tickets on sale now....

You all are very reassuring and I appreciate your kind words of experience.

I love the decorations.  I typically go all out decorating but this year has been so busy and no the month is already 1/2 over.  Maybe next year.  I am throwing a costume dance party for our local mountain bike state championship so that should fulfil the need for halloween.  :)

Comment by Anna on October 15, 2019 at 10:57pm

Oleander,

Those decorations are wicked!!!  Would love to see your neighborhood during Halloween (and Christmas for that matter!) Hubby and I are still planning our visit to your neck of the woods next spring!!  We are spending November in South Carolina with the oldest son and his family, then we go to Pensacola to spend Dec and Jan with officer daughter.  Making sure we are far south for the winter.  As soon as it gets nice in Oklahoma we are going there to visit with Catherine before the tornado season starts.  Then we head to Fallon to visit with the Chief and his family!!  But on our way to Fallon we'll be coming your way.  I will give you some better dates when we get to OK!!!  Hoping we will get to have that big get together - JayDee?  Spyder? B's Nuke Mom?

Potterycat,

Oh I remember those days and that pit in your stomach you get when you just don't hear from them.  When my daughter was in boot camp they could only write on Sundays and a couple weekends she just had too much going on to get a letter written.  My mind went to all kinds of dark places until I finally heard from her and she explained why she hadn't written!!!!! I was sweating bullets!!!! Hang in there Momma, you will hear from her!!!  Just not as often as we want!!!!!

Love the pictures Anna!

Congrats JayDee, make a world of difference when you know them and approve.

Deanna, How exciting for you! Scaring but  moving ahead. Ohh, dry dock even better. My daughter tho always was loaned out to others her rate was undermanned.

Oleander, can't wait to see/hear about your progress.

Potterycat, HUGS, I'd like to tell you it gets better but usually don't but we learn to cope.

I've been absent a lot lately, just A LOT going on here. Another preceptee at work, makes for more work for me. The extra training, watching and working with his college, sending reports, hours.... This is a bad time of year for my health problems, we're cold and scraping windows in the mornings again. The cold/damp hurts!  Joseph is growing and changing way too Fast, it's been 3 weeks since I saw him  Well it will be Sat/ when I go back down, Church festival, cleaning up yard/garden for winter.... and other duties have kept me here. :(  When Sailor got back to VA, he got a promotion, witch moved him to a different Pod (?) so his deployment has been jacked around a lot, delayed 2 weeks, then no leaving in 2 days! Just him and 3 others, after to go ahead, no military flights so have to go civilian, caused all kinds of problems!  He did not pack out and send ahead his computers because he needed them to work on and was suppose to be flying military. Then he can't take his medical kit on civilian flight!  He did sign over 1 of his computers to another team who will be coming in 2 weeks (we hope) But had to take his other one with him YIKES!  I mean it has a huge sticker on outside IntelN2.......and not to have his Medical bag very dangerous! That too he had to sign over to his command to bring along...but if they forget or he gets into something before they get there.....He was not happy about this deployment before Now...Wow!  He said he'd weather go back to Iran/Afghanistan... Which scares us all.  So been Very Stressed and worried lately. To the point of crying in Church again and BP ski high!..... Not only do I worry about him but my daughter and granddaughter in VA !  We've had the experience of the knock on the door...enuff said.

potterycat, I hate that feeling.  She's in good hands. Sit down with a cup of relaxing tea and write her a letter, that always helped me.

Whether or not we realize it, we worry about our girls constantly.  It doesn't matter if they're in the military or away at college.

Oleander you'll love this: I had a dream Friday night that my sailor and I were out shopping when a terrible storm came up.  We hid in the basement of a department store, but the building was being torn apart by the severity of the storm.  My daughter told me that if she died she would send me purple butterflies when she got to heaven so I'd know she was safe.  The next morning I woke up thinking I'd call her, but decided it was better to wait.  Sure enough she happened to call me a couple hours later to check in :).  She assured me that if anything ever happened she'd send the purple butterflies, but that I had to do the same for her.

That's not meant to freak you out, just a reflection that as moms we always worry and we always have a solution.  You'll note that we were together and it was an act of nature, nothing military about this dream.  Oh yeah, and we escaped the storm because she had to go to the bathroom and we were safe in there.  Ha.
