Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

JayDee!!!! OWWWWW! There's something about being stapled in the head by someone who isn't trained that gave me chills and made me nauseous, much less the file cabinet to the head. Holy cow !--- glad ur girl's on the other side of this!
Good to hear your girl's doing well too Shoosh! I'll be sending her good vibes on 11/12 -- which happens to be the date our sailor was sworn in AND her grampa's birthday!
Halloween is a different animal here, especially in our neighborhood. We went all out with decorations but didn't give out candy this year. Had it been a non-covid Halloween we would've had 4,000 treaters. This year we calculated 1,000 even with a sign on our entrance gate stating this year was only for residents. We had a lot of fun sitting on the porch people watching!

JayDee659 oh my goodness!! Your poor girl!! Glad the staples are out but that must have been a horrible experience.
We got snow on Friday and Saturday was super chilly. 28 degrees at trick or treat. BRRRR....We never get any kids, so I stopped buying candy. I did, however, go to the grocery store yesterday morning hoping to pick up a couple of bags 1/2 price. Would you believe there was NOTHING?? So strange!! Guess someone is telling me I don't need the chocolate haha.

Shoosh, I'm glad to hear that your daughter has a PIR date and is getting ready for the next step! You must be excited for her to be at A school when the contact between us and them is much easier.
You're right, the communication they have between mom and dad is totally different. Women understand women.
How was everybody's Halloween? We had ZERO trick or treaters (not unexpected) and now have 500 pieces of chocolate to consume. Today it's incredibly windy out, seems more like fall.
Not sure I mentioned it, but my sailor took 6 staples to the head last month. Some numb nut left a tool locker open and she apparently closed it with her head. The corpsman was about to start stapling (which he'd never done before) when fortunately a senior medical officer walked in, saw what was happening) and asked the corpsman if he'd ever stapled before. My daughter said she turned into a teaching session on how to staple a scalp. Then they limited her to restricted duty, unable to stand or walk more than 10 minutes at a time. It's over 1/2 hour walk from parking to her ship. The Navy is genius! Fortunately the staples are out and it's all over with now. Oh, and they put the staples in without any local Geeze!

Good morning and Happy Sunday!! I haven't posted here in a while, but thought I'd update you all.
My SR was sent to ROM 5 days before her PIR along with 11 others due to 2 of them testing positive for COVID. She called her dad last night and he missed the call, but her message did say she finished ROM and starts back up training tomorrow and has been reassigned to Ship 4 Div 006. So that is a PIR of 11/12. I was hoping she'd jump right back in and PIR this week, but maybe this is better. She'll be able to work on her runtime.
Note: her dad said she sounded awful in her message, and then forwarded it to me. Ha - if only he heard the last two calls. She sounds amazing!! And strong!! They save the tough stuff for their mamas, they know we can handle it :)

I saw this in one of my facebook groups – “if you have Verizon as your phone carrier they have rolled out a program that automatically takes the Unknown and Potential Spam calls and sends them to your voicemail. This has already been placed on your account. You can call Verizon or use the My Verizon app to opt out of this services. If you have the app you can go to Contact Us and choose We’ll Call You and put Other as reason and choose Call Me as soon as possible.”
This is especially important if you have an SR in bootcamp or a sailor deployed. You don’t want to miss any calls!
I don't know about other carriers but I can vouch for this happening with Verizon as I have Verizon.

I'm so glad you got to hear from your girl. It's true that those phone calls can be emotional for them. I'm glad you were able to stay strong for her. It will be different once she gets through bootcamp and communications between the two of you will be so much easier!!!!

That is some picture!!! I can just imagine what could be in those flood waters!!!! Really hoping you get to see your sailor march even if it is a modified PIR!!!!

Congrats to your girl on completing her training and getting out of P'cola!!! I know sometimes my sailor girl wishes she could leave there!!! She went through the shooting in December, moving her offices twice because of that. Then the hurricane caused damage to the house she is renting and the offices they are in now!! The bomb threat didn't affect her directly but it's just another scary moment for that base. And now we have Delta warming up in the gulf to hit the coast!! She admitted to me that she feels like she is suffering some PTSD issues when she hears certain noises. There is still quite a bit of debris piled around from Sally and she's concerned that could become projectiles in heavy winds caused by Delta. Just not a good place to be until it goes past!!!

Oleander - we had spent years clearing our property and Matthew and Irma pretty much ruined that between 45-50 downed trees (none of the dead ones we needed to take down of course) and the flooding bringing in a bunch of stuff.
