For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

letters
Does anyone know how long letters take to get to the base? I sent one on 8/5/21 and my son called me today and he has not received it yet?
His letter to me only took 3 days to get here. I live in Illinois.
If anyone has info on this, please let me know! Thanks

Mine went from Michigan to Great Lakes in 3-5 days usually. But I mailed a letter every day so I don't know if they arrived in order.

Normally it depends on what day you send it. Did you send it threw the sandboxx app or regular mail? Also with the correct address ship number and division number. If it isn’t mailed properly it might take longer. I’ve had it take about 9 days to get to my son.. it all depends. If you haven’t received it back then it has made it there. I would wait a few days and see if it arrives to him. Goodluck :-)

Jonna18 - some people mail a letter almost every day just because things can be a lot slower getting to your SR than their mail getting to you. Each division has to train a recruit mail petty officer and this can take some time as well as other delays in the mail room and also mail that must be properly addressed. Our mail to our SRs almost always takes longer to get to them than their mail takes to get to us.
When my son was in BC, they only mailed out their letters on Mon and it was in my mailbox on Thursday. I don't know how long my letters took to get to him.

Good Morning,
Good to see you posting. I posted on the comment wall to you to. :) I also got my letters from him on a Thursday but their mail would go out on Monday as well. Sunday's was letter day for them. It seemed like as the other ladies were saying our letters from them got to us faster. :)
It just depends on how fast they the mail person delivers the mail to all of the SR's.

Hello everyone,
Thanks for the responses. I mailed it on a Thursday, 8/5. It was the correct address. It had the response form for who will be attending graduation with a personal note as well, so I was a little worried that he had not received it as of 8/14- that seems like a long time. I mailed it regular mail usps.
I looked up the sandbox app and I have seen some mixed reviews on here that said not to use it so I have not looked into that yet. Has anyone used this app and it works?
Still concerned his mail is not reaching him. I guess I will have to wait until I receive a letter or call to verify.

jonna - here's a link to a discussion I have posted regarding use of the Sandboxx App:
You can use Sandboxx but ONLY in boot camp! Please delete it after boot camp as it can cause problems while in the fleet.
