Hi Cda2202 - I was on another profile page welcoming another member to a group and I noticed you had posted a question there to her that I think was intended for the BC Mom group as a whole. If you are viewing this site on your mobile device, it can be difficult to navigate and remember where you are posting at. I use my computer because it is just easier.

Feel free to post your questions again in the BC Mom group page. I don't want to just copy and paste since it was your post on another members profile page.

Hello Cda2202 - I have your request to join the Christian Navy Moms group. This group was started some time ago by another N4M member. She was no longer able to moderate the group much but those that had recently joined did not want to have it closed down, so I started moderating the group. We offer words of encouragement, post scriptures, post prayer requests, and praise reports. It is a group meant to encourage and build each other up. Occasionally, I post Christian music of various genres that are songs which speak to my heart - I usually do with a YouTube link and don't have any control over the ads that come with it - unfortunately.

We welcome you to the group, please come introduce yourself and let us know a little about you.

gio0525 - Yes my daughter loves Sandboxx, and I just received her first response through sandboxx as well.  I didn't know this but when they use the envelope sandboxx provides, you will receive an email letting you know a letter is on it's way to you.

Not everyone uses Sandboxx in my family, most use regular USPS.  Her cousins used it once and then said this is too expensive! I could send 12 letters for the cost of 1 letter.  LOL

But for me, I like the fact that she can receive news fast, so I mix in the sandboxx letters with the regular mail letters.

Cda2202 - Hi.  I would think that she would be put with a division that was available upon completion of her quarantine, but asking in the main chat would probably be best since the "veteran" navy moms would have more experience with this and would be able to answer.

I know my daughter said the 5 days of ROM while she waited for her division to fill were the worst because there wasn't much to do except think, lol, but they did get time to study and write letters although they can't mail them yet.  She arrived on a Wednesday so had to wait until Monday to get assigned to a division.

The scripted call is great but also hard right?  I loved hearing my daughter's voice but then heard it crack a little at the end and just wanted to hug her and tell her she was going to be great.

My daughter is scheduled to graduate the day before thanksgiving and one thing this group has taught me is to be flexible.  For now we booked one way tickets not knowing how long she will have liberty because of the holiday weekend.

We received our form letter about two weeks after she arrived and then our first letter about 3 weeks in and then our first phone call just this past Sunday, which is the start of her 4th week.

This is surely a test of patience for us moms!

Sandboxx is awesome.  I was skeptical about using it but went ahead and sent my son my first "Test" letter.  When I received his first call, he confirmed he had received it and I've been writing him everyday since. We even attach pictures and they receive the letters within 2-3 days if I'm not mistaken.

Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 4 weeks (ish) and the 10 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)

The Expected timeline will look like this
Day 0 -- Travel, Arrival and "I'm Here" scripted phone call

Week 1&2
Day 1-14 -- ROM (Restriction of Movement/ Quarantine-- Lots of studying and waiting) Unless they are Fully Vaccinated (2 weeks after final shot) in which case they skip straight to Week 3.

Week 3
Day 15-21 Arrive Onboard RTC and begin P-days (P-days- Initial Processing Days) including 2 days of P-hold (Weekend)
Day 21-- Complete P days. (Initial PFT & Run)

Week 4- First week of training
Day 22-- Begin training and mail form letter out. Look for it to arrive around 1-2 weeks later

Week 5 -- First inspections and tests (Dental May be this week or next... Not Confirmed)(Form letter/ Personal letters usually arrive this week)

Week 6 -8 -- More training, Drilling (Flags and Marching), Fire Fighting training, Marlinspike (Line handling- How to tie up a Ship to the Pier) and weapons lessons, Confidence chamber( May or may not be happening yet, we don’t know for sure).. Warrior training in here somewhere.

Week 9 & 10 -- Stressful!! They have all their final inspections, PFA, Drills, BS21 and Tests. This is the lead up to the end!!

All of this is assuming no exposure to COVID with additional ROM
Training typically occurs Monday - Friday but we have heard rumors that Saturday’s are now training days as well.
Normal PIR will be 10 Fridays after departure from Home but it can be less by 1 but it can be extended by ???? (lots!!) It just depends on how many times they get caught in the “Ring of Fire” but do not get COVID. IF they get COVID, Once they are recovered they will not be removed from training again even if they are in the “Ring of Fire”. (so there is that small silver lining if kids get sick)
I Hope you’ll come and join us on the Main Boot Camp Moms page: https://navyformoms.ning.com/group/bootcampmoms You may have to scroll down a ways to reach the comments but we’d love to get to know you and answer any questions or concerns you may have or just be a support from others who “get it”.
