I know that patience is a virtue, but I've run out of it! Our son shipped out on the 30th.. I've been waiting on his form letter, and I know that that could take up to two weeks, but here's the frustrating part..

His recruiting officer is nowhere to be found. When he first enlisted, he was working with a certain recruiter. A couple of weeks before he was to ship out, his recruiter went back to another job, and he was assigned to another.

He never even met the new recruiter (since it was so close to the time that he was leaving), and on the day before he shipped out, when we went to sign the last few papers and check in, he wasn't there.

I've noticed that a lot of mom's find out their son's divisions, etc., before they even receive the form letter, and they find out from their son's recruiter.. I called the MEPS office where he shipped out from, and they were so nice, but they don't handle that side of it there. The gentleman I spoke with said he would look into it, and try and find out what he could, but I know they're extremely busy there.

I know that eventually I'll get the form letter, but it's frustrating that we don't have a recruiter that we could call, even with a minor question. It looks as though his PIR would be July 26th, but who knows??

OK, rant over..I just pray that all is ok w/ my "boy", and that the letter will come soon! (and I'd also like to make our flight and hotel reservations!)

I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday!!

((((Hugs))))

Even if you got the information from the recruiter, it's not necessarily accurate AND your recruit won't get letters any faster if you send before the form letter.

The form letter should get to you soon - probably this week - and you'll have the PIR date and his address.. Make sure you get reservations that you can change if need be - because sometimes the PIR date will change.

NavyMum, yes, I know about the possible inaccuracy of the info from the recruiter..I'm just being an impatient baby. ;) I just wish we had an actual recruiter that I COULD contact if needed, you know?

I'm for sure making sure we have a 48hour cancellation policy w/ the hotels I'm looking at, and I know my husband won't book flights until we get the info., and even then he'll book w/ the possibility of changing.

I think I feel like getting the form letter is just one step closer to being able to hear his voice. Silly, I know, but I think that's what it is. Thanks to you guys for "listening"!!

yeah - I get it, it's hard not being in the loop anymore. I swear boot camp is for us as parents to learn to let go and accept that the Navy is in charge now as much as it is for the recruits to become Sailors.

Once they sign the contract and head off to boot camp, they aren't the recruiters responsibility any longer - so even if you had a actual recruiter, they probably wouldn't be much help - the occasional one maybe but not as a matter of course.

Prayers that your letter arrives soon and you hear from your recruit soon. No news really IS good news.

You're right, I think boot camp IS for us, lol!

My son was there on the 23rd and it took 15 days to get the letter!  Surely he will be graduating July 26th, hold tight Mama!  The recruiters aren't there for us once they leave to boot camp.  I tried contacting my sons and he didn't respond.  Im sorry but its hurry up and wait, no news is good news :)  Its coming very soon!

You're right, no news is good news!! I'm like a kid at Christmas, but instead of waiting for Santa, I'm waiting for our mailman! LOL

With your Son shipping out May 30th, his 5th Business Day would of been June 5th or 6th give or take. So you are still within the 9-14 days for the form Letter. Now that is if he passed his first PFA. I know this is Hard but you are still within the Business days for everything to happen. Stay Positive and remain focused. Your Form letter will arrive.  See Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) and Fitness Improvement Training (FIT).

@Phoenixmom, ahh, you're right. I wasn't even counting the business days, thank you. He passed the PFA before he got to GL, so I know that isn't an issue. I will definitely calm down, and know that the form letter is coming soon.  Thx!!

You are Welcome, It is Normal to feel on edge as you do, The waiting part of this whole process is for the birds....... I get it. That is awesome that he passed prior to going in to BC. As my Son did as well....So it was easy Peasy no problems now worry! fingers crossed you get it soon then You can begin With reservations YAY!

Vent Away!  That's what we and this site are here for!!!!  It's better to blow off steam here than to rip into someone who isn't familiar with what is going on with your SR lol (and will probably just tell you to get over it - what's the big deal?!?)!  We all get it......and now I'm going to tell you to hang in there - your form letter will be coming - just takes some time.  Count Fridays not individual days so the time goes faster.  You'll get through this - we'll make sure!

Hang in there!

And when all else fails, just dance!

I LOVE it!!!!! Made me smile, thank you!! p.s. my husband would be thrilled if he came home from work and I was wearing that outfit hahahahahahahah ;)
