Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

  • If you haven’t done so yet, click on Sign Up in the top left corner of the main page to join. You will be asked to create a Username and password.

Hint:  Pick your Username thoughtfully, as this is how everyone will know you on the site.  Feel free to be creative ("MomofNavyTwins" instead of "Lisa", for example, tells others about you and sets you apart from other Lisas). Do not use your last name in your Username please, even if it differs from your Sailor's, for the privacy and security of our Sailors.

A second screen asks a few questions to help other moms get to know you better.
  • Read our Community Guidelines and Operations Security Checklist (links are on the main page).  Be respectful of each other, and remember that Loose Lips Sink Ships.
  • Start or join a specialized Group to meet moms with your interests!  Our site is a unique opportunity to learn about your Sailor's occupational specialty, ship, homeport or duty station.  These groups allow you be of help to your Sailor as they progress beyond boot camp.  For example, the Norfolk group has this Discussion that answers FAQs about car ownership, base access, and long-term storage during deployments at the Navy's largest base.  Other groups let members share expertise on how to shop for, pack and send care packages; plan for deployment periods; and communicate with your ship's Ombudsman Team and Family Readiness Group, just to name a few.
  • As you get to know other moms you can view their profiles, send a message, or add them as a friend.  (Caveat:  as with all social media, do not share personal information unless and until you get to know another member very well.)
  • Browse through the groups' Discussion Forums to find answers to your questions and to post responses to other Navy moms.

Hint:  Ask a new question in the group's Comments section.  Take a look at the current Discussion categories to see if your question has been answered there.  Start a Discussion if your question is one that will be of general interest to others.
  • Create your own page by clicking on My Page. Tell us about yourself! Share good news and upload photos and videos of your Sailor.
  • On My Page, you can start a Blog to share your own stories and experiences. You’ll also be able to edit your page’s appearance, add gadgets, and more.
Navy families are the backbone of our Navy. Thanks for keeping us strong!
