Hi my son will be leaving this fall for his first time out on a ship, what do I need to know & what can we send him?

I have not been on this website for awhile. My oldest daughter joined the Navy about two years ago. She is doing well in her chosen career and absolutely loves it. Now her baby sister is somewhat following in her footsteps. But Big sister is stationed in the USA. Little sister will eventually be stationed on an Aircraft Carrier is what we were told. Right now she is still in high school, and things could change, but this worried Navy Mom is wondering what life is like on a ship or Aircraft carrier because I know it will be different from being on land. Thanks for any information.

When Sailors are deployed the only contact is through email. Your Sailor needs to email you first. This clears you to be able to send emails there after. Sometimes Sailors can call home using the ships phone.

Hi, my son's ship USS George Washington left Japan last May 23, 2014. Is there a way that we can check on them? I haven't heard from him since then. When can he contact us again? Thanks

Hello, i don't have any idea about it too.  My son is going to board USS Washington, Yokosuka in Japan next week.  Fresh from booth camp & A school.  He's only 19 years old.  He's excited but we are happy yet worried.  This is the start of his career & totravel around the world.  We wish him well & Navy will protect him. May our sons & daughters be safe always!
