DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC, and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Keep them on it until their PIR. I needed to do the same thing and was told nit to stop him till its official. Just in case something happens. The military covers them at boot camp but if they were to be discharged he would have no coverage. Mine had pir last week so I was able to drop him as a change in status.

You can only visit with your SR on Thanksgiving Day if you complete the Adopt-A-Sailor paperwork and get it in on time. You should have received the form since your SR is in the 12/13/2013 TG. If you have not received that paperwork, then email the PAO (rtc.pao@navy.mil)) and inquire about it. Most of those flying out will fly out on Saturday, so you should be safe in leaving late Saturday or on Sunday. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within  Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).

Since your SR has a contract for Aviation Boatswain's Mate - Handling (ABH), join AB - Moms, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!,, and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola. You may also want to check out Airman Family and Friends. The Rating Information Card for AB can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ab.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend. He will fly out to "A" School and go through INDOC and fill out a chit for Leave for about 10 days over the holiday stand-down and once it is approved, he will make his travel arrangements--he pays for his travel to and from Leave. Since that is a short "A" School he may not be able to take Leave when "A" School is over if he takes leave over the holiday stand-down.

Join Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!! and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for many of the ratings with "A" School in Pensacola.

My daughter started BC on Oct 1, we received KIB on Oct 9 and the form letter on Oct 11th.  If you are on FaceBook, you can "friend" the recruiter.  He will post your SRs ship, division and PIR when he has it, but it never hurts to call him.  Did your SR leave last Sunday, the 20th?
