OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Click on OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and the Page will open in a new window. Read the Page and follow the directions at the bottom to make change 2 to remove your last name from the URL above and change 3 (see the words in bold). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Since your SR has contracted within the PACT program, the information within Professional Apprenticeship Career Tracks (PACT) Program will be of interest to you. He will have training in GL, but not "A" School yet.

Join USS Momsen DDG-92 (it hasn't been active lately, but if you join and post, others may also) and Destroyer Moms (DDG).  Yes, that vessel is currently in dry dock in Washington.

Thanks Navy mom 49! I didn't think I would have a hard time with this but today I really missed him. Hopefully I will get his letter soon and can let you know what ship and division he is in. Nice to know someone else with an SR there with mine.

Our recruiter was not very good/informative. We did not have very good info and he actually got the kids to MEPS late and they almost didn't get to ship. Yes we were at the berto center. Such a cool ceremony. Graduation will be amazing!

They probably do. Tim said there were three from his office and two from crystal lake. My name is Kris. This all happened to fast. Tims date was moved up from august 26.  A mother mom said they get a pizza party half way through with the bulls. Had yo heard that?

Sorry if you get this twice! I am still learning how to use the site. I got his box yesterday. I am now traveling for spring break so not sure if the letter came. I will be back on Thursday. Tim went to the recruiting office in carpentersville.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR when the time comes. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
