My son is currently on a plane on his way to GL and I'm about to crawl out of my skin.  I know he will be fine, but this process is much more exhausting than I ever would have thought.  Now the waiting begins.

Hang in there it is an emotional road of a lot of waiting. You should get your box in a few days to a week and then the form letter with his address soon after that. We are here for you!!
SpencersMom, my two are sequestered in a hotel in Houston and will join your son tomorrow. I agree: This is WAY tougher than I even imagined.

My son leaves from Houston next Tuesday!

Spencersmom Just make sure to have either home phone or cell phone close because you will get a call later tonight stating I'm here and I'm ok. it is a scripted phone call that lasts no more than 2 min. at the most. calls come late mine came at 11:30. so stay close. and Congrats on your New SR. that stands for seaman Recruit. Welcome aboard. you will find a lot of info on this website and very knowledgable women that can answer about anything you ask. You will find yourself getting very Emotional, it is nothing that us Mothers havent endured...so this will be a rollercoaster ride but you will be ok and we are here for you.

I was in your shoes last week when my son left. Tell him to call you really quick when they land, because the next time you hest from hI'm will be a scripted call. I got my box but still waiting for my letter patiently, not quite!! Lol.. I want to hear how everything is going, what has been the hardest thing do far. I rely on this board, every day! It's the first thing I read in the morning and the last thing at night!
Oh my goodness yes, it is this board and the support of my family that keep me going. This is so much Harder than I ever thought it would be. These past two weekends without my daughter home have really been a struggle!!! I just pray this is the week I get mail or on the weekend a phone call will come... just any little hope to keep me going. She left the 5th and I have written her everyday. This group really helps me (to say the least) fill the quiet moments my daughter use to consume.
I feel for you moms. Its stressful. The next 9 weeks teach us a lot about always waiting! I went through this in June. Wnd son so I had some experience. But it still stressed me out. My call came at 430 am. So now your phones will be glued to you. Easy to say now but it will go fast. I'm thinking of you all and sending prayers of comfort and strength to you...your Sailors and everyone they come in contact with. The moms here were a wealth of support.
My heart hurts for you so much! You are in a wonderful informative and kind family here at Navy 4 mom's. I've never had a question that I couldn't find the answer for here. I was just feeling before logging on that ache of pain just to put my arms around him. Tomorrow marks my son's 4th week. When that wave comes ride it out and allow yourself to cry, laugh, scream, whatever you are feeling. I urge you not to hold it in & stuff it down. It will get better - I promise you.
The I got here call will come late and it will be quick since they read from a script. All you want to tell them is I love you but they can't talk. It made me so sad.
Spencersmom- approx 4 weeks ago, I was in the same shoes. I felt like I couldn't breathe and had 3 full blown panic attacks that day. I spent the day washing his dirty laundry and reorganizing his room because I just needed to be close to him. This site is an awesome family of support and you will find out that what you are feeling, is very normal among a lot of us. We are all here to support each other and I have really come to depend on this family. You will work your way through this, one day at a time, and with love and support from friends and family. Our recruits need us!!! 1 thing I did from the day he left was write him.... and I have written every day he's been gone. It makes me feel like I talk to him everyday.
My "I'm here" call came about 1:30am eastern time. It's a very rigid scripted call so don't be hurt if he sounds rigid. While my son talked I kept saying I love you over & over until I heard the click.
When I got the call...I tried to be really upbeat. Be mentally strong..you got this etc. I didnt want him to hear me sound nervous of anxious. Because they just entered a whole new world. One that makes us look amazing to them, bc when my son was home he couldnt wait to leave. We all noticed a pulling away from us and grandparents.I think he was emotionally preparing himself for the lack of contact. But now appreciates home more. These were tips given to my son. Dont make a name for yourself. Blend in. Writing tips were...only white envelopes..black ink. Nothing that makes them stand out. No stickers etc on the front. Now that he is in A school he always texts me things that are going on. Funny songs etc. I love thst he even thinks of me. My husband feels ignored! Lol. You will aee a new man when you go to graduation. I was so proud of everyone graduating. They will help one another get through. I prayed for a strong division and ambition. Some ladies told me at graduation that his division did very well. So my prayers were answered. Its too soon now but as it get closer I have shopping tips when you go there!
