OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Also, so excited for you to have your sailor home for both Thanksgiving and Christmas!

belovedbyHim - thanks!! I knew that we were getting close to the arrival time for the Keel, but hearing others having received theirs for the same PIR makes it difficult when I haven't received mine and I just want to make sure it doesn't get lost in the mail or the one day that we won't be home due to the holidays. I guess if there have been others who have waited 6 months, than our 3 months is really good.

Keep in mind the Keel is essentially a "yearbook" for BC. Most of the photos are stock but not all so they have to wait until after Graduation to submit the photos.  It takes on average 4 months for those to get put together and mailed out to everyone.  3 months is great!!  I have a friend who's son had PIR nearly 6 months before they got his Keel.
Chipmunk-- Hopefully it will arrive soon.
GranmaFaye-- Glad you got your Keel.  Did you enjoy playing "Where's Waldo" while looking for your sailor??  I scoured every photo with a magnifying glass only to realize he was only in his class picture.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving!!! I'm off to hug my sailor good night!! I get him for the first time in 6 years for BOTH Thanksgiving AND Christmas!!! He'll be on deployment this time next year so....  :'(

Hello Chipmunk,

The carrier was USPS. I was at home but they left the package outside and  did not ring the door bell. My sailor was in Div 259

GranmaFaye - Do you recall which carrier delivered The Keel?  I did not receive mine yesterday (but was actually praying about it). I just need to be sure to watch for packages on my front porch, or slips of paper left.

Thanks!!

Hello Everyone,

I received my Sailor's Keel today. Her PIR was August 25. We were just wondering about them last week so they finally sent them.

Hope all is well and you all enjoy Thanksgiving.

Philippians 4:6 - 7  one of my favorite scriptures.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

MN Mom...I'm so sorry to hear that Heather has passed. Will be praying for her parents, sister and the rest of the family. She fought bravely.
