Angela, when my sailor was in C-school he told us that they can't receive food (organic material) or anything electronic (it might be a bomb, or mistaken as one). I think an artificial Christmas tree and lights (not battery operated) would be fun for your daughter. He also called me as soon as he could, gave us his address and told us what we could send.

I also have a question. Someone on another one of my groups wants to know about shipping a car to her sailor. She wanted to know how to do it, and what would happen if the car got there before her sailor, if the Navy would store it or if her sailor would have to pay for storage. Does anybody know anything about this?

Thanks for your help.

He will get his orders by PIR, but they don't come usually far enough in advance to make big plans. Many families stayed for the weekend when I went for PIR and it was good for their sailor. They don't get to stay with you all night but they can be with you the majority of the day. Usually Monday is back to work...

My daughter is playing the waiting game, on hold will start C school soon. She will unfortunately be spending her first christimas alone. Any experiences you can share about sending packages or other suggestions would be great. I plan on putting a box of stuff together and sending it soon. I thought of sending a small 2ft tree, but wasn't sure if they would let her put it in her room.
I am also in this quandry about what I can buy her because I don't know how much room she will have on the ship. For example I was thinking of getting her one of those digital photo frames and uploading it with family photos.
What are your thoughts?

Hi all:

Just thought we would pop in on occasion, say "hi", and catch up on what's happening. It's good to see all the new names here.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We had one daughter with us and missed the other two kids terribly. Still, there is much to be thankful for. We will have both girls with us for Christmas in Bakersfield then I will be back in Oregon by myself until summer.

Cameron completed his first patrol on board ship and is now back on base in Japan. He expects to be there for about six months before his squadron deploys again. He says it's hard to sleep in a bed that doesn't move but is happy to be on land again. We like it because we can Skype with him when he's not at sea.

Everyone enjoy all that turkey soup. Hope some of you will have your sailor home for Christmas.

Jeano, I hope that the tooth fairy isn't experiencing adverse affects from the bad economy and that there is extra money for your little guy! The tooth fair at our house often gave a new tooth brush & paste for the 1st lost tooth as well as a quarter. Now kids expect more though! lol I'm glad you got to spend that extra time with your sailor! What a wonderful surprise!

Congratulations to moms of BC grads. I hope and pray that they will all be successful and happy with their choices. Go NAVY and God Bless all the ISS!

That means that once they get to BC, when a division is completely filled. About 88 in each depending if they are a performance or specialtiy division or just a regular one.My girl arrived on a Wed and did not division up until more than a week later.

I appreciate the input. It is obvious I am new to all of this. Can you enlighten me on what division up means?
