OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option.

~It is also a good idea to change your visibility settings for your Profile Page (MY PAGE) to "Just my friends".

Catmom, He told me he would give me a cookie if I found him. LOL Now I have to wait  two months or six months (can't second guess the Navy) before he comes home and I can collect.

nmr  Southwest is a good one to book with since they charge no change fee....and 2 bags check for free.  If it is not terribly costly to change your return flight to earlier if he leaves on Sat., maybe that will work.  Although changing that late could mean lots of money for the new flight.  He won't know his flight info until after BattleStations which means right before PIR.

Too funny ellen.....

nmr:  Not sure I understand your question...a 3 flight???.  Since you do not know which day he is leaving...I would book your return late on Sunday so you won't miss time with him.  If he happens to leave on can sightsee in the area before heading home.

I received my first letter from my daughter today (Ship 12/Div 301). She is doing good, said it's been tough, but she's used to no sleep. She said the hardest part for her is lack of space, and she misses home and her family a lot.  It made me cry, but I was so happy to hear she's doing well.

diannep, FTLW and Catmom,

It has been a while since I was able to play "Where's Waldo" with my son. Here is the first pic I have seen of him in months. LOL Yep, he still manages to stay out of them for the most part. This was taken at change of command.
