I was station there in the early 80's, so in lest I win the power ball or he gets married I am not going.  My son usual call almost every nigh when they are in.  It is only me and him so we are kind of close.  We bought a house together so I call that close.

Wow that's a big move! Well for shore duty will you be able to talk to him more consistently? If so, that'd be so nice! :) It'd be a great excuse to go visit the island on vacation, too! :) :)

My son will make 4 years in July, he wanted to extend but was to late so he will be leaving in July to go to Pearl for 3 years shore duty.  I am hoping that he goes back to Kings Bay when he is finished.  It is only about 3 to 4 hours away, depending on how many times I have to stop for the bathroom.

That's so funny that someone asked about zombies! :) It's been so nice to hear such good things about the gold crew--especially since Alex will be with them for the next four years I believe. :) Just waiting for an email to arrive...!

Well he is in good hands with the gold crew.  My son has been with the boat since.  He has been through two commanders and he liked both of them.  I have to tell yall a little funny that happened on there boat.  I don't remember who it was but my son said that one of the crew walked up the commander and asked him if he had a Zombie plan, the XO was next to him and started to laugh with everyone else.  The commander just looked at the crew member and smiled.  Oh course my son is a big fan of all things Zombie, he is such a geek.  So there is yall funny for the week hope the rest is good to all of yall.

Hello all!

My  boyfriend is currently out with the gold crew. I was excited to find this group during a google search. I was getting paranoid about not getting emails for so long, lol.

It's not his actual boat, he's just on for the ride so he could get off at different points throughout the patrol.

He's been on a few patrols before but not since we started dating a year ago, so this is my first patrol.

Anyway, he's an awesome man who tends to look out for nubs (New guys), so don't be too worried about your new guys.

Comment by NavyMomLG on May 13, 2013 at 1:05pm

I don't think that moose is with our guys.  If I read the article correctly, it is actually on a ship, an amphibious transport, named the USS Anchorage.  I would hope with space being so precious on a sub that they wouldn't take up any of it with a 100 pound mounted moose! But you just never know!
