DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
At Boot Camp now
When I heard “Navy,” I...
was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
you don't receive working a lifetime in most civilian jobs. I grew up living overseas for a majority of my childhood as my parents worked for The Department of Defense. I went to high school in Okinawa Japan and that is one of the most beautiful places in the world. My little US Navy recruit is hoping to get the opportunity to travel to Japan as well.
Our Navy experience so far...
has been positive and maturing.

My daughter is in FIT too.  I wish there was some way for me to talk to her. I was hoping she would get a phone call home for Mother's Day - but nope.  She was so upset the last time I spoke with her... 10 days ago. I went to Chicago last weekend, which would have been her PIR - just in case I would be able to see her.  I know she is having a hard time and is discouraged right now.  I just hope she is not hurt and will get through bootcamp soon.

It's not a good idea to post a pic of your recruit every time you post. See change 4 in OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). To increase PERSEC, don't include ANYONE in your profile pic.

Also make change 3 (see the words in bold) so that this page is no longer visible to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Hi, sorry to hear what u are going through. My daughter failed her running also. She is in FIT now. She was supposed to graduate on the 14th. She has been in FIT ever since. She did pass her running the wednesday before her PIR but they didnt allow her to graduate with her division. If it is passed her PIR, she will NOT have a PIR. They do allow them to call every sunday. So look foward to that. Also, she was supposed to start A school this week but couldn't because she hasnt done BS yet. She has to wait for an open spot. Meaning if a division doesnt have enough people to do BS then she can do it with them. Until a position opens up, she will be in FIT, cleaning and doing I.T. She's called the past 2 Sundays at around 1-130pm. Keep your phone charged and by u at all times cause u wont know when u will get the official "Im a sailor" call. I havent received mine yet. Also, my daughter was very home sick and discouraged. She wanted to give up. U just need to encourage her and let her know that life isnt easy, if it were we would all have it easy. Let her know that u are proud of her no matter what and to keep ongoing. It would also be a long 3 month processing out if she wanted to quit. So she wouldnt see her family until another 3 months when she could just keep going. Another pointer is to make sure she eats healthy. The sugary stuff will just slow her down. They do allow them 3 days of liberty though. I would just be ready to make plans as soon as she calls to go see her. You wont attend a big ceromony but u will be able to see her. At least thats what my daughter told me. I hope this helps. I'll be praying for u both!

What is your recruit’s rating (job/occupational specialty) or field going to be? There are groups for most specialties and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Take care and blessings to you and yours.
