OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Profile Information

A little about me:
My profile is on Linkedin under Maria Olah-Sandoval.
My background is in public school education. I am an elementary school teacher. I'm also starting a freelance artist business. My specialty is portraiture. I am willing to donate portraits of any individual who gave their life in service to our country. Requests can be sent to my email.
I am here to support my
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
Everyone I talked to said they encouraged their own kids to join. That made me believe that if a parent would wish that for their own child then it must have been a good experience.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

I would like to join a group with sailors in the "A" school in Pensacola, Florida. Perhaps who also entered in Dec. 2012.

Professional Photographer PIR pictures

Does anyone know if we can have copies of the pictures taken at PIR by the professional photographers that were allowed on the floor during the ceremony?

Any recommendations where to take a sailor to eat that's open on Christmas Day?

I'm staying at the Navy Lodge. Do any of you know where is a restaurant that's open on Christmas Day?

Can I take him his cell phone and a jacket to keep after PIR?

Phone calls

Posted on December 2, 2012 at 6:18pm 2 Comments

I have missed every phone call from my son and I am very frustrated. Can I know more or less when they are allowed to make phone calls so I know I need to be on alert and pay more attention to the phone?

Hi, you may wish to edit your info above to remove your real name. See OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile) (clickable link) for more on that.
