OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

KathyMcK...a, I see you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your last name; you also need to change the URL to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes change to Your Profile) (clickable link) to take care of that. (If you are using a Smart phone, you will need to switch to Desktop View to make this change.)

Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.I suggest "Just My Friends" since you have chosen to include pics of your Sailors on your My Page.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with you or your Sailors.

Since you have a Sailor on the USS America, you may also want to join Amphibious (Gator Navy), San Diego Moms or Sailors in San Diego, San Diego Moms/SOs and Sailors Stationed in California.

Where is your other Sailor stationed? Which sub? There may be groups for it as well.

What are your Sailors' ratings (jobs/occupational specialties)? There may be a groups for those as well.

Kathy............I am another mother from the Greenbay. I don't know if you are aware but Sarah on our site is expecting her first baby, her husband just made Petty Officer.

Since we are all over the country, it would be a little difficult for us to get together for a baby shower for her. But what I thought was if each one of us would write a wish for her and her new little baby boy. Then she could print out our wishes on some nice paper and put it in the babies book.

So once I know the babies name I will start a discussion on our page for him. Hope you can join me in wishing Sarah and family good will. Jody
