"my son called and said he might have to have surgery his tendon popped in his wrist he will have at least 4mo in a cast. I am so glad he is still excited about being there and all he talks about is finishing BC I told him to make sure to put that…"
"Thanks. I'm pretty active on the Ship 4 FB page, which is where I received a lot of comfort and information. I always thought having a kid in RCU is worse than in basic training, because we as parents have a pretty good idea of what the kids do…"
"My son, Peter, will be picked up by his new division today. I will be leaving this group, but I will keep all of you in my prayers. This has been a difficult journey, and it truly breaks my momma heart every time someone new has to join…"
"Hello - I was overjoyed when I checked Informed Delivery to see there was a letter from my son who shipped to boot camp on 8/7. I thought it was the form letter, but the gist of what he said was that they found something medically and that by…"
I told my son about your son's mandated two year RCU stay and my son could only groan. He says your son would be much better off going home to recover and go through physical therapy. He thinks he'd have gone insane if…"
"No problem Sherrifm! I hope that your son has a speedy recovery. We should be getting phone calls this Sunday. It's generally been around 2pm for me in the Central Time Zone. So be ready for it. Also do not worry if we do not get it this…"
"My son gave us a different Div number than that listed above. He told us Div 741. Do I need to use the 2341 or the 741 that he told us. I'm sorry I am so confused, but I want to do the right thing! Thank you!"
"Wow Seabeemom, I thought we had it rough.
Given the extensive recovery time your son might be given the option to return home post-op for recovery. I'm not sure how that works but you might want to tell him to find out for you. It's a grey…"
"I know this group isn’t very active but I thought I’d give an update on my son who has been in bootcamp since 2/26. He has been in RCU for about 4 months now and the latest is he is probably going to have to have surgery and will be in…"
"Hello all. My wife was set to graduate July 13th. But I received a phone call on Tuesday saying that she going to be held back due to a fracture in her knee. I must confess I’m at a lost. I’ve stepped up my writing to her, sent pictures,…"
Hi Parrothdgal... I saw that you mentioned your SR is in San Antonio for MA, but haven't seen you on this group yet. My son is from the 6/3 PIR and started class 6/13, but my nephew just got there (PIR 6/17), so he's probably in your daughters group. Hope to see you on our new group. http://www.navyformoms.com/group/sanantoniomasatthu
I asked my husband and he said our meeting will go till after 1PM. Maybe I can go next time :) I really do appreciate your invitation, there is nothing better than listening to the Word of God and being in His presence.
"texasmom" on the 5/26 group---go to PIR 5/26's group and find her on the MEMBERS in that group. Flesh-colored picture icon with an emblem. Please message her. I have contacted her and she will be more than happy to talk to you. Her son went through this. She actually had briefly joined the 6/3 group thinking that is where he was put, but he ended up in the 5/26 group. Keep in touch with how she is doing! The ladies on the 6/3 group want to know!
So happy to hear you got letters and thank you for being so honest. The only communication I've received is pre-printed "Dear (fill in the blank) letter. At the very end there is a place for recruits comments and his words broke my heart. Although very brief, he stated that he wanted to quit at one point, he misses everyone especially the girlfriend, and he was not allowed to write Sunday.
I certainly understand how that moment, and many more to come, can be so pride-filled yet sad as well. I served in the US Navy myself and when first my son, and then my daughter said they wanted to enlist I was so proud of them. But the day my daughter left I felt as if my heart was going to break right out of my chest. My little girl was leaving and I knew she'd never return as my same little girl. I'm still so proud of her, but I wish we could just run out to the mall and check out all the pretty dresses and watch her try on the frilly girly prom dresses and such!!!! I miss my shopping buddy!!!! Hang in there, and I will be thinking about you Monday and Tuesday!!! Come share with us if you need some shoulders to lean on - that's what we're here for!!!!! NavyMom hugs to you!!!!
I see you joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!!! We are a friendly, caring group of moms always willing to listen and support. Please feel free to jump in and join our chats!! We like to discuss everything from our sailors to our jobs, weather, whatever. It's also a great place if you want to yell, scream, vent, cry - - there is no judgment involved!!! Brag about your sailor but also tell us when you are hurting because you miss her so!!! I see your daughter is getting ready to leave for bc in a few short weeks. Enjoy the time you have together - the loss of communication during bc is the hardest. But we will all be here to help you through it!! Looking forward to getting to know you and your sailor!! Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!
