OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comments on this page are for you. Others do not see them unless they happen by, so you can delete you comment to yourself below.

As you figured out, to reply to a comment here, click on "Comment Back" or "View Thread" (you will have to do that if the person has their profile set to "Just My Friends") below the comment.

ReneeV......a, I see you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your full name; you also need to change the URL to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile)  (clickable link) to take care of that. (If you are using a Smart phone, you will need to switch to Desktop View to make this change.)

Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web. I suggest "Just My Friends" since you have chosen to include a pic of your recruit on your My Page. You can select "Members" and delete the pic (change 5) instead.

It's not a good idea to post a pic of your recruit every time you post as you do when your recruit pictured in your profile picture, so also make change 4. To increase PERSEC, don't include ANYONE in your profile pic.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with you or your recruit.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin' for Boot Camp in February. You will meet others with loved ones leaving this week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together.

I also suggest that you join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

Be sure to join your PIR group once you get The Form Letter.

Master at Arms is a rating very dear to my heart since my Sailor was an MA. Join San Antonio MA's; the discussion, Break down week by week, will let you know what happens at NTTC Lackland (San Antonio). You will also want to join MAA Moms. Other groups to check out are New MAA Mom's (it has not been very active) and Security Sailors (it is not very active and includes loved ones of Sailors from other ratings as well).

The Rating Information Card for MA can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ma.pdf (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.); it indicates 9 weeks, but "A" School is 7 weeks after classing up.

Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) to help you know how to plan your weekend.
