OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A little about me:
I'm a single mom of two boys. My oldest Alex is 18 and considering going into the Navy. I'm am scared and not happy, along with being worried. I'm trying to be there for him and have begun reading the paperwork and found this web site. I love in and don't feel this is a good idea. I hope to be able to talk to other moms and get help to be ok with this.
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Thinking about joining
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was concerned or afraid
The Navy offers opportunities that...
My father was in the Navy. I do not knpow alot about this. But it is hard for my to support this with the leadership we have right now.

Wendy, read the previous comment and join the two groups. (New MOms Stop Here and SF Bay Area Navy Families - click on the links below) The southern California groups don't seem to be too active or supportive, so join the SF group and post what you just posted on my page. You'll find many warm supportive parents in both group. When you post, just say I invited you and ask if anyone had gone through similar situaton. Bea

Wendy, the event you signed up for is in Santa Clara - near San Jose - North Calif. You want to join one of the following groups close to your home.
I am the creator and admin of the SF Bay Area Navy Families group (we spinned off another group from North Cal - which was getting too big).
Since you are from California, do join the local group nearest you. You’ll find supportive members from all over Calif. You could join as many groups as your want.
Central Valley CA Navy Moms with 17 members
So Cal Moms with 117 members in Southern California
Look for the "+Join ...." and click on the words.
You won't find other groups as active as the SFBay Area group and the North Calif group - if you get lonely, you can always join us.
However, you should join NEW MOMS STOP HERE. This group will be the best for you. I am also one of the admins. There are over 300 members in the new moms group. You'll feel right at home. Read the comments and the comments under all the discussions.
BunkerBee, another CA Navy mom.

You have done the first part and have changed your Username so that it does not include your last name. Now, also do the following so that your webpage address (URL) above does not include your name any more: Look in the upper left hand corner under your picture and information; it says Manage My Page or Photo. Click on My Page. The next screen says My Page Settings. Go down to the Address and in the box next to “http://www.navyformoms.com/profile”, make the change to random letters and numbers or CAWendy or WendyCA or use numbers for the CA or use something else since Wendy points to another member. Blessings to you and yours.
