OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

That's wonderful, Michelle! I'm so happy for your recruit and I know you can't wait to see him this weekend! Have fun and send me a msg. about anything you'd like to know that might make your time together special. My friend who went in the spring gave me some great advice on places and we had a great time!

Michelle: Yes, what happens during the actual BStations is highly secret. One mom posted that her son told her all about what they did in BStations...UH OH! I sure hope an RDC didn't see that post! My son is very chatty...but no way did he offer any info on that...other than to say it wasn't bad. They are running on pure adrenaline during that night!

A call today sure would be a great treat for you! Do you know when he was going to be able to run it again? Was it yesterday or today, maybe?

Thanks, Michelle, for the comment on the pictures on my page. But believe me....I am technically challenged myself! I somehow figured out how to do put these on. :-) Ask someone to help you get some piks on...especially of your sailor after PIR!

Looks like the ladies are welcoming you with open arms on the 9/17 group! I told you!!! Some have recruits in your son's division which is great. So start chatting! :-)

I meant to say that the PAO probably won't be able to give it to you until he has been assigned to PIR 9/17.

Get your form letter. In it, there is a number for the Public Affairs Office, page 2, paragraph under where your son wrote his ship info. They will ask you for his OLD password...the one in the form letter. They may verify something else about him, but then they will give you the new one. Make sure you tell them right off the bat that your son was asmoed and has a new PIR date, so you need the new password. They normally don't give original passwords out (in the event someone lost their form letter). But if you have the original one, they should give you the new one. The ladies on 9/17 are not allowed to give it out. They can't give it to you until he is confirmed for PIR 9/17 though.
