OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son will swear in on January 16th and then fly to Illinois for boot camp. Does anybody know when graduation will be and is it hard to get lodging?

Since you have an SR at the RTC, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to "Enlisted."

Don't forget to make change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes. (Read 800 and 900 Divisions for additional information to help you decide what changes to make.)

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. What is your future Sailor's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin' for Boot Camp in January. You will meet others with loved ones leaving that day/week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. I also suggest you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.

Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view. Craig runs that and will steer him to some good links on there.

Welcome to NavyforMoms.com. My name is Ronny and my son has been in the Navy since February of 2012. He is currently stationed in San Diego with a Helicopter Squadron. He is an Aviation Structural Mechanic. I hope you find all the info you are looking for here, and if you have any questions feel free to ask. My son is 3rd Generation Navy, so I do know a little about the Navy..:)

If you have a new Sailor who is in Boot Camp, or leaving soon, visit CallsforRecruits.org and I will send you FREE Pre-Paid Phone cards for your SR to use while they are in boot camp. I started that program when my son left for Boot Camp :)

Welcome Aboard and I wish your Sailor Fair Winds and Following Seas.
