OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

NEED HELP

Posted on January 3, 2014 at 10:52am 4 Comments

My son got sent from his base in Hawaii to Sigonella, Sicily back in November. We have been able to touch base with him only once Christmas Day through the internet and have tried to send messages on Facebook. I sent him cards but he did not receive them so I am afraid to send any packages, and I feel bad that we were not able to send anything for Christmas and for his birthday. If the rating is Aviation Maintenance Administrationman (AZ), join Moms of the Aviation Maintenance Administrators AZ. The Rating Information Card for AZ can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/az.pdf.

You may want to check in Mom's with Sailors in Sicily, Italy or Sigonella, Italy, but typically the Sailor would need to supply the address. You can email him or message him through facebook and ask.

Do you mean Aviation Maintenance Administrationman (AZ)?

I see that you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your last name; you also need to change the URL to this page to remove it from there as well. Number 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) will tell you how to fix that. There may be other changes you will want to make as well, such as change number 3. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty)? There may be other groups I can direct you to.
